Bobbo63
Please dont assume since i dont know the names of parts that i dont understand their function. My A/C dont work, and ive traced the problem to the switch on-top of the beer can lookin thing, with the small glass window with the 2 aluminum tubes goin into it, on the passengers side near the firewall. Does that narrow down what im talkin about? Whats that switch called and where do i get one. A/c clutch wont engage unless i bypass it the switch. I got power into the switch, but not out. Sounds like the switch to me. However... i cant seem to find one on amazon/napa/schucks/oriley/autozone... Anybody know how to end my goose chase? Brackets
Sounds like the drier to me. The switch on top is a pressure switch and if you're jumping it to get your compressor going you're low on freon.
Bobbo63
so all i gotta do is recharge it? cause i thought the switch opened when the compressor built up enough pressure.
Brackets
Well you could just recharge it but there is a reason you don't have enough pressure in there. That switch is a safety to stop the compressor from running when there isn't enough freon in the system. You will have been leaking refrigerant from one or more of the orings and/or the compressor shaft seal or even the condenser.
Bobbo63
so its like a low pressure cut out switch? then what shits the compressor off? or does it constantly run?
