svxak47 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 So Ive been reading the write ups on how to replace the catted up pipe on my 2005 GT and the resistor fix for the CEL. What brand of up pipe is recommended? Ive seen everything from a DC sports, HKS, Invidia, Cobb and so on and would like to know which one is the best for the money. Thanks
malvic Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I bought an STI up for $50 and had it installed with the resistor. Eventually got a custom tune. But that was my fix to get the cat out!
doobaruGT Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Any catless should do. I used to have the invidia but the welds cracked last year from torsional strain. I went with a thermally coated grimmspeed with the flex to eliminate the torsional strain. I chose the GS unit because I like to support a company that puts so much R&D into their products and then stands behind them with top-notch customer service. They're all similar so pick one you like and pick up a resistor for the egt delete. Updated parts list since original part-out here. Original Full part-out of my LGT HERE!
starionesir Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 As mentioned stay away from invidia. Mine cracked as well right at the lower flange.
Akasa Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Flex pipes denigrate, solid pipes crack. Pick your poison. I sided with GrimmSpeed. The quality of their up pipe unit is amazing compared to that of Invidia.
Colorado Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I am thinking about getting a GrimmSpeed up pipe and down pipe, do any of you have yours coated with their ceramic coating and is it worth it?
Nightmaresmk Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Grimmspeed ceramic coated is a good option but their are others Tigwerks (on Facebook) builds his with 321 ss and inconel bellows in his ie never fail
2006 Subaru Legacy GT Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 I went with GrimmSpeed and had it coated. Pretty happy with it. Quality all the way
Nightmaresmk Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 This is tigwerks Up Pipe with EWG and Bellows for reference. http://imageshack.com/a/img661/3387/KaudDQ.jpg
