andrew_l_s
I was looking into 3m vinyl just last night and then this thread shows up on the front page today! After seeing how it looks I'm for sure doing it. Probably with metallic black as I'd think it would hide crap a little better than straight up gloss black. Anyone know if the antenna can be removed by reaching up above the headliner or does the whole thing have to be dropped? That would be a major PAIN! This, caliper paint, and add taillights to the trunk reflectors, then I'm done...until I get more ideas lol. andrew_l_s
taillights to the trunk reflectors? whats that? I bought LEDs to light up the taillight-looking reflectors on the trunk as actual tail lights, there's a thread about it:cool: Lighting Mods: $10 Footwell Illumination | Tail as Turn | Fog as DRL Diode Dynamics C-Lights | RX350 Bi-Xenon Retrofit

ammcinnis
I don't have GPS, am I safe to wrap the antenna? The blade antenna on the roof isn't for GPS. It's for Sirius/XM and (MY 2016) StarLink's cellular phone. The GPS antenna, when present, is located under the dash. mattblowers
Why? Not to be a dense, but what is the point? Looks? Or is there a purpose? I don't buy a new car very often and I have no idea why someone would want to do this. It looks nice, I guess I'm just too old to get it.

childish_brando
Now the question is, how to I remove the "shark fin" in order for me to fully wrap both the roof and the fin? Through the headliner? Anybody know how?
hkshooter
HOt. Makes me wish I got white. Bring it on down over the hood and trunk and you'd have a Subaru police car.

You don't need to drop the entire headliner. Just pop the 3 holders off on the back of the headliner and you can pull it down enough to reach in and take the bolt off of the antena. I took a peek a few days ago and saw what looked like a large nut holding the antenna on. Could've just been the bracket though, was hard to tell.
