j2l1 Posted May 1, 2015 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Hi, I've got a 95 2.5l legacy with just over 300k kms and an engine rattle/knock. Probably due to the bottom bearing giving out. Wondering what the lifespan left is like? Can I keep it trudging along just with the knock? johnegg Posted May 3, 2015 Share Posted May 3, 2015 300,000 km 95? ej25? where are you located? austrailia? 180k miles is not old age for an ej25 engine, but it is upper middle aged. have you replaced the head gaskets? how long have you owned it? how many km have you owned it? any recent service or repairs? head gaskets? over heating? if it is rod knock, it will not last long. if the bearing spins it may get quiet for a bit but then fail all together. New Zealand. Haven't replaced anything, only just recently acquired it. Drove it 50ks the other day fine, noisy, struggled over 65mph, and would stall everytime I slowed down Video of the noise and it dying, sorry for vertical. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKaqFrbyP_s Apparently happened around 100ks ago.
