Kenneth3aracing
What is the original suspension on 2008 Legacy 3.0R limited model? I need to replace the front L&R suspensions on my new used 3.0R and just found out they are all Bilsteins (blue & yellow). I am not sure the previous owner replaced other brand or it came with Subaru package in 2008? If I take new Bilsteins, it should be B6(HD) or B8(SP)? and what parts I need to buy beside the strut assembly? Thank you.
tvsubaru
It should be kyb for oem front struts. You can't go wrong with kyb ot billstein struts. They are both really good brands quality-wise.
whitetiger
if the car has bilsteins on it already, then all you need is the replacement bilstein shock. if you are keeping the stock springs, just do the B6(HD).
Kenneth3aracing
Yes. I could order the Strut Assembly from here, but not sure any additional parts for the replacement? Dust cover, Spring seat, Spacer, Upper mount....etc? I will buy all parts and have auto shop do the job with labor cost. http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/DC/18220-05395638.html?utm_content=DN&utm_term=2005-2009+Subaru+Legacy+Struts+Bilstein+35-118305+Front+Left+05-09+Subaru+Strut+Assembly+07+06&fp=pp&gbm=a&utm_source=google&utm_medium=ff&utm_campaign=PartsGeek+Google+Base&gclid=CNzA_qfJ-MQCFajm7AodwF0AFQ
whitetiger
you will re-use all of the other hardware from the assembly. just get the struts and install them.
DMTaylor
According to http://www.cars101.com/subaru/legacy/legacy2008.html the 3.0R came with Bilstein, not KYB as previously stated.
CapnJack
They are and should be bilsteins. The 08 3.0R had bilsteins on all four corners.
Kenneth3aracing
Yup. My used one got no replacement to 130k mileage and now I find $820 for Bilstein B8 and $300 labor for 4 corners. They also found my both side bushing need replace and cost more $240 total.
