Nohenns
Hey guys, recently my car got t-boned. Luckily the other car missed my rocker so frame damage is at a minimum but my door on the other hand is ruined. I was wondering if their is a difference between early second gen legacy doors and mine which is a 98 lgt. The only reason I'm asking is because I know that the early legacy's had different front bumpers than later second gen legacy's. Basically I am planning on pulling off my doors and seats and other panels so I can get my frame straightened and reinforced.
johnegg
95 - 96 REAR doors are different than 97 -99. fronts are the same. sedan and wagon doors are the same for the same model year. but the rear door glass is different between the two. so make sure you have a matching glass if you are swapping in between the two. johnegg
there is a nother difference i forgot to mention. the separate lock button on the front doors. 95 - 96 do not have the separate ''lock / unlock'' button on the front doors. (the interior door cards a different.) i do not know how the wiring harness might be different, or not. of if the 97 door card with lock button will plug into the 95 harness. but the metal door frames, windows, and lock hardware are the same for the fronts, 95- 99. i kind of like the 95- 96 locks, when you lock or unlock the driver door from the inside, it locks all the doors. it just does it with the lock button at the ''door open'' handle, not a separate lock button. twisty
i put 98 wagon doors (passenger side front and rear) on my 96 sedan, used my existing glass, harnesses and locks and everything worked out well. except the paint match.
johnegg
the ''security bolt'' receiver on the rear door did not cause any problem? in 97 they added a big black bolt on the rear door jamb, half way between the door latch and the bottom of the door. and there is a corresponding ''receiver'' on the door itself. it appears to be for cage integrity during a crash. the 95 -96 years do not have it. as a result the the 95 - 96 doors will not bolt onto the 97 - 99 years with out removing the bolt. but i'm glad to hear that the receiver does not stop the 98 door from bolting onto the 96 car.
