linuxbatm
Pulled out my shifter today to install a short shifter and also do the bushings. The rubber boot doesn't seem to line up with the metal shifter rod that the bushings go into(Number 24 in this image). I have attached a couple of pictures to illustrate what I am talking about. Did the WRX or anything else have a different shifter assembly? http://i.imgur.com/e70ey4k.jpg http://i.imgur.com/SGKG07f.jpg Thanks so much in advance. bluesuby
When I bought my 2005 LGT I chose the optional short shifter (Subaru OEM) because without it, the throw was like shifting an old VW bus. Is it possible you have the inappropriate parts?
linuxbatm
It looked like this when I opened it up. As to whether the previous owner put the wrong parts on, I have no idea. Just curious if anyone elses shifter looks like this.

linuxbatm
I ended up just going with it. It doesnt really affect anything being that there are 2 rubber boots anyhow. I would love to know if yours looks like this though so post back when you do yours.
TheMonaLisa
Are you sure the linkage is fully inserted into the red bushing? From the top everything is good to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Fairly certain. It was like this with the stock bushing when I pulled it apart, and also I pressed in pretty hard with the new one.
