Lgt-Hawj
So the other day I oversteered my leggy and hit the curb pretty hard. Now when I'm at speeds higher than 50mph, I can feel vibration from my steering wheel. I'm thinking my control arm is bent but haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Any suggestions to what I should be looking for when checking it out? And I just put in a new axle on that side also. Thanks for the help.
whitetiger
unless your alignment is off (steering wheel not straight or car wont drive straight) all you did was bend one of your wheels.
apexi
I agree. I'd probably take the wheel off the car, put your temp spare on, and take the wheel that hit the curb to a tire shop. I'd have them throw it on a balancer and see how things check out. I'm a huge advocate of hunter road force machines, the link below can tell you who has one near you. Did the tires contact patch hit the curb and climb it?
Lgt-Hawj
I went over the curb then back down. My alignment is still very straight. When I turn; the wobble stops. It's only when I am going straight that my steering starts to shake. I'll take it to a tire shop to check it out. Thanks
whitetiger
you may have other issues, but the bent wheel is the major one. once you get that settled, you will be able to notice if anything else is a problem.
magnusonsubie
If you oversteered into the curb how did your front wheels contact the curb? I could see if you understeer pushed into the curb it could be you damaged a tie rod end and that threw off your toe which would cause some steering wobble but also the bent wheel is a high probability. 2005 Vader Wagon Material Tests on Ringland Failure Piston I should have held off and purchased a wagon instead of the spec.B
whitetiger
a bent tie rod wont cause steering wobble, just a fcuked alignment. vibration at speed, when not braking, is a wheel balance issue. yes, he may not be using the oversteer term properly based on what information he has given us. Lgt-Hawj
Oops sorry prob. Meant understeered then as the front passenger wheel hit the curb only. Thanks a lot for the input everyone. I'll take it to a local shop and see what they say
