Merc6
I have stromung shorty and perrin rear catted back half. Car came with shorty and I added the Perrin cause it was like $100 new to my door. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k280/merc6/LGT/2A4F622F-535C-4699-A4CE-A1D8F25C3362_zpsywxdkvfd.jpg~original http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k280/merc6/LGT/CBE4D8F1-73D7-4F99-AC84-7C36895B8E19_zps8tkgpvio.jpg~original http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k280/merc6/LGT/1-8-2015%205397_zpsnfpqboqv.jpg~original 2005 Satin White Pearl Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Unlimited 5EAT (Project Car) 2019 Agate Black Ford Explorer XLT 4WD (DD)
alyolles
I will find all of this out on the weekend. What happens if its a shorty pipe with the oem bottom?
Rhitter
Not much. Just doesn't have as good of flow as a high-flow cat. Probably won't realistically mean much though. Easier to pass visual inspections maybe.... If you are getting it pro-tuned the tuner would be able to work with all of that. alyolles
Im really not sure whether it is shorty and oem, catted or catless because it backfires and smells like gas most of the time, but it passed nj inspection a few months ago. Over the weekend im going to jack the car up and see what I find. It basically sounds like the car has all of them at the same time haha

My after market high flow catted downpipe never backfires or smells like gas. I would bet on catless and a lazy tech. My OBXT build

Merc6
I had a TDC tune back in the AP V1 days and oem lower cat and still smelled gas. swapping down pipe and open source retune by DPS I shaved a 2nd off 1/4 times. 2005 Satin White Pearl Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Unlimited 5EAT (Project Car) 2019 Agate Black Ford Explorer XLT 4WD (DD)
Unsp0kn
Well we can't guess what it has, you'll have to get under it and look. It will be really obvious if the 2nd half of the downpipe is OEM.
alyolles
Alright finally looked, is this a Perrin back half? I believe it is, does anybody know for sure?
Rhitter
I don't know what that is. But it's after-market. I think you can just tell the tuner you have an aftermarket high flow catted pipe. My OBXT build
joeleodee
How do we know your vehicle currently does NOT have a tune? Have I missed that? Or are you wanting a new tune for peace of mind since you're backfiring?
alyolles
Sorry I'm not sure if it says it or not on one of the pages, but right now I have an accessport but I am getting tuned because among other things the car has a vf52 turbo.
Stewy612
im willing to bet there's no way that pipe is catted haha

Rhitter
I guess the Cat could be shot. But what else would that bulge be? My OBXT build
alyolles
That was my thinking, I assume that bulge is the cat
Mike07LGT
Well hopefully there is a lesson learned from this experience.. if I read this all correctly you bought the car from someone that didnt give you all the specs on the car before he handed the keys over and took your money.. does the car not have a tune already beings there is an accessport and a vf52 turbo? 03 WRB WRX (RIP) 04 JBP STI (sold) 07 DGM Legacy GT (RIP) 12 OBP STI (DD)
alyolles
Yea there have been many lessons learned from buying this car. And no, the car does not have a pro-tune but I am trying to figure this out because the car is getting tuned very soon.
