LegacyCamper
My air con on the 97 250t started going about 2 months ago. Some days it works, others it doesnt, and usually when it does it only lasts a couple of hours. Is this a regasssing issue usually? Also the light that displays the air con and fan information has faded out its unreadable, strangely some days its ok, but usually not. Is this a bulb issue or electrical possible? Thanks in advance. Tr00b
There is a couple ways to go about this- you can pump in a can and charge it, or take it to a shop they will charge it and put in fluorescent dye and run the system and look for leaks, then have to discharge the system and fix the problem, then recharge. Usually looking at a minimum of $150 to charge, check, drain, fix, recharge. Plus whatever parts and labor cost. You can tell if the system is leaking or low by hearing the compressor short cycle. Clicking on and off to engage compressor when you turn on ac.
monkeyposeur
I had nothing but trouble when I tried using the AC charge in a can. The gauges are completely useless and it is very easy to overcharge the system. This is the one system in my cars that I don't like to repair myself (aside from swapping compressors of course). twisty
getting a good gauge set is worth it to do the service yourself.
snederhiser
Hello; Refrigeration gauges can be had on the cheap! If using an old set of R-12s, get on Epay and get a new R-134a low pressure gauge, hookups with 1/4 flare, can tapper with valve and 1/4 flare. This should enable you to service the system. R-134a runs a higher pressure on the high side, so the need for a new gauge, Steven.
