It has a giant magnet in it that is supposed to take the metal out of the oil.

Make that metal like steel, not brass, Al, copper, etc...

correct. BTW it was your engine pic that lead me to finding the problem with my missfires!

Glad it helped. :) that's one reason I'm here. ;)

Can't wait till my thread is like this with resolution. I was afraid both my kids were gonna grow up and move away to college before I finish my build.

I was at that point too. I was ready to put a match to it after getting the engine in the second time and it still didn't run right. But when you finish it will be worth the wait!

Final update. Sold my OBXT to a guy in CO. What a great car. I was able to drive the car for a year and made a decent chunk back beyond what I put into it. The last voyage was delivering her to the new owner. I had the opportunity drive her in snow, and now I know why people in snowy places love them. By the way the test drive went, you'll undoubtedly be seeing the car back up here again in a build thread soon. Can you say rev-limiter?

Funny enough the night before I sold the OBXT a lady here in town came to look at it. Her 2003 Forester's timing belt let go on her way to work that morning. I ended up buying that car and did a complete rebuild on it. The OBXT took me 3 months to rebuild. The n/a Forester took 3 weeks! MUCH simpler beast the n/a's. Solid little car.

Sorry to see you go, but congrats on selling the car!

Thanks for your contribution to the community through this build thread.

Hey, thanks a lot. It was a nice project, and got me off the bike! I hope people can take advantage of the things I learned and posted along the way. I still lurk here a couple times a week, and will be keeping my eyes open for a '09 OBXT to build up. (Best looking Outback in my opinion)
