black crud in turbo water hose

Recommended Posts

I'm changing the coolant and hoses (I've found 14 so far) on my 2005 GT wagon. The Subaru coolant with additive appears clean. When I removed the small coolant hose between the filler tank and the turbo, the coolant was dark and I wiped some black crud out of the hose with a paper towel. Haven't found this in any of the other hoses.

Any ideas on what caused this?

heat.

I wouldn't worry to much.

FWIW, I replaced both caps a while back, just because they were 10 years old. You might want to think about that. See what the rubber seals look like.
