I'm imagining this is going to be one of the "repost" topics but I can't find what I'm looking for. after a trailer truck pulled out in front of me and didn't even look when I blew the horn, I decided I need to upgrade. of course there is there hella supertones, but do I need a special harness or do they come with the relays and everything but I have to wire it all myself? and what about the sickspeed version on eBay? I'm not looking to spend a fortune but I feel like better horns are a must. any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Do not do anything ebay. Period. WTF is Sickspeed, anyway? Another GS knockoff brand?

Hella Supertones can be had for pretty reasonable:

Is $50 too much for your safety?

AFAIK, they fit fine and wire up no problem -- I see TONS of WRXs and STIs with them.

Subscribed for the success story or the massive regret story. I have the Hella Supertones wired up with the subiemods harness + hella relay and I have no complaints. The horns are so loud that I am hesitant to use them unless it is to warn someone...or a bastard double parking on a narrow street.

The Sickspeed version is also available on Amazon: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Sickspeed-Black-Super-Compact-Electric/dp/B00F009X58/ref=sr_1_11?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1404324482&sr=1-11]Amazon.com: Sickspeed Black Super Loud Compact Electric Blast Tone Horn: Automotive[/ame]

The Hella looks like a better deal though.

I just removed my Supertones from my OBS to transfer onto my Spec B.... I only noticed this after taking them off, but the relay and Subimods harness have corroded quite badly over 2 years (in Canada)... to the point where one relay pin is completely gone. I'll need a new relay and to fix the harness now, so I would recommend tucking the harness as far from the elements as possible!

The horns came in this morning. will be hopefully hooking them up tonight. I noticed the wiring harness doesn't have a fuse, opinions on adding one?

You should be fusing the power source to the new relay, not the trigger source (horn button). I wouldn't pull the power source from the existing horns, you're going to pull your trigger from there...so yeah, you can have them both installed and functioning.

Pulling the air box allows for access to the stock horns without needing to drop the bumper. FWIW... I just ran wires from the stock horns right to the Hellas when I did the initial install (they came off another car and the relay was badly corroded). Still running them like that and they are plenty loud. As long as you aren't measuring a significant voltage drop at the stock horn harness there shouldn't be THAT big of a difference. Or is there? I had them wired up both ways at one time in my Jeep and the output seemed similar.
