JediSamReye
BACK STORY: During my test drive of the new (to me) legacy the left blinker when used the clicking flasher sound would continue, even when the signal was shut off. I was thinking it was a stuck relay for the flasher because of the fact the signal indicator or lights them selves were not blinking. Well in doing research I found out it has to do with the grease that they used for this switch, it gets hot and then bridges the contacts. So on my way to Ben's to take it apart and clean it all up the left turn signal actually stuck on, the dash indicator was blinking and I could see in the back of the cars in front of me that it was blinking, then the SMOKE came out, electrical burning smell followed. I pulled over and shut the car off, waited a couple minutes and turned it back on, it was back to normal for the time being, so I hurried over to Ben's, it didn't smoke again, so we removed it, and it was too far gone, we tried very hard to keep this one alive, I ended up biting the bullet and limping along with it for a few days while one came from a junkyard in Cali. I was very nervous about doing this at first, but once I did it, I realized its very simple and straight forward. So when I got the replacement in I decided to do a DIY so people that are more visual can learn also. The WRITE UP: The only tool you will need is a medium size Philips screwdriver Step one, first screw is on the under side of the steering wheel column Remove that http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/Mobile%20Uploads/20140530_124940_zpsqh9a5nh2.jpg Step two: Swing the height adjustment lever down and pull straight down on the bottom of the cover, it has a few snaps and they will pop off http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/Mobile%20Uploads/20140530_125003_zpslzwx19ro.jpg http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/Mobile%20Uploads/20140530_125047_zpsncmb7umg.jpg Step three: lean in and look under, there is two screws one is very easy to see, the other is kinda in there and there is a few wires in front of it, but its there. Remove those two http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/20140530_125103_zps0e192b39.jpg Step four, Push the steering wheel all the way down and lock it, now the top cover is floating on top, its a real pain to remove, so i didn't, it lifts up enough that you can do the rest of the job and it doesn't interfere, http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/Mobile%20Uploads/20140530_125213_zps2dm2yuo2.jpg Step five and six: Remove the two Philips screws from the base of the signal switch and unplug the hire harness thats plugged into it. http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/20140530_125213_zpsfca771d9.jpg http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/Mobile%20Uploads/20140530_125252_zpscpi2jehi.jpg Step seven: Pull the signal switch straight out, it slides right out http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/Mobile%20Uploads/20140530_125303_zpsocwwvshm.jpg step eight: steps in reverse! Your done, not that hard of a job BONUS: Car Parts Gore http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/Mobile%20Uploads/20140530_130146_zps9ndp7naf.jpg http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp3/jedisamreye/Mobile%20Uploads/20140530_130233_zpss7ws8zfk.jpg
