Fire Away
As the title states. I had an engine code a while ago (downstream o2 sensor heater circuit fault) and finally got around to replacing the oxygen sensor. After it was replaced, the engine surges under 3krpms, my mpg has gone from 28-30mpg to 24-26mpg, and I find myself having to give more gas and downshift more often. No engine codes are being shown and the air filter was replaced 3k ago and fuel filter 20k ago. Engine currently has 186k miles on it (ej22). What could be the problem? Zues Marine
I would reset the ecu if you haven't already
Fire Away
I figured it would have been fine after the shop reset it to clear the codes, unless they just used the OBD scanner to clear them. I'll reset it tomorrow and report back.
SockMonkey
this might be a little old, but he doesn't mean reset it by deleting codes or anything. He means disconnecting the batter and pumping the brakes on and off for like 2 minutes. leave the headlights on. It completely drains all the capacitors and memory the ECU has about how the car should run. Then you reconnect the battery and let it run/idle for like 10 minutes. It will reteach itself how to idle and run.
