subydoobyd00
So I was stopped at the stop light in my BD and when it hit green I started to go and I could hear the bearing just spin and the rpms just increase. It would not grab. somehow it grabbed enough to get off to the side of the road. Since I didn't have money to tow it I just went for it and somehow made it home which was almost twenty miles away, but mostly because it was all freeway. When it was in Direct it was good, but I had to shift quick cause the low gears weren't having it. It would engage somwhow with my foot barely off the floor at low RPM and then just spin off like it was just warn and couldn't handle the speed. Pretty sure I I know what happened, but just wanted some opinions, Cause it was an all of a sudden thing. I would grind like maybe once a month, but I thought it was just lazy foot occasionally. Any suggestions?
ras06LGT
I think it's pretty safe to say that based on your description your clutch has come to the end of it's usable life. Now, you didn't mention how many miles are currently on it, but my first thought would be that it's just worn out and that's why you are now finding it slipping. In my experience, a worn clutch will be fine one day and start slipping the next. Once it begins slipping it will quickly get worse. You might be able to baby it for a bit, but plan to replace it ASAP. If the clutch has relatively low mileage than you may be looking at some sort of mechanical failure preventing the clutch from engaging properly, hence it is slipping. Have you noticed any strange noises or feeling through the pedal when this started happening?
subydoobyd00
Ya, that's what I figured unfortunately. It has close to 150 on it. It would grind maybe once a week, but I thought it was just me having lazy foot and not releasing all the way
ras06LGT
150 or 150k miles? I certainly hope it's the second one...
DonnyJagaru
I know someone who chewed up a clutch before his first oil change. Remarkably, it was repaired under warranty.
