ripstik
I'm planning on laying down some plastidip and would like some people to weigh in on the matter. first off my car is deep indigo blue and I plan on debaging other than my 2.5 gt (since its all that matters) and plastidipping it, the chrome on my grill and trunk(I can't seem to remember if there is any there right now), and the insert for the hood scoop. so basically all my chrome and my hood scoop insert. the question is what color to go with. initially I was thinking black, but gunmetal may be nice, and the tan (camo style) may actually look great. of course there is the leave it option of something flambouant like a lighter blue or a dark red
ripstik
best part about it is worst thing that can happen is I waste some money on extra cans of Pdip. pretty great invention if you ask me Also I am open to other suggestions so feel free to speak your minds Thanks, STIK

FJuan
First it may help that we see the car in question here, then post some pics of the different colors. It's a lot easier if we have a visual. Lets start with the car, here's JJBerk's LGT in blue for example. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/07/17/su5u5ara.jpg My wife's balls are delicious. ripstik
Not understanding. Are you dipping the whole car? TEASER, no not the whole car, just the badges, chrome on grill, chrome on rear, and hood scoop insert. First it may help that we see the car in question here, then post some pics of the different colors. It's a lot easier if we have a visual. F1, that's my color exactly thank you. and I would post pics of the different colors but I don't have them best I could do would be cap color of the Pdip cans
GTEASER
voted. I don't like most of your options and I think the chrome looks good on that color. I think black or gunmetal if you're going to do it at all. I am not sure what the attraction is to plastidipping the hood scoop. I think it makes the scoop look like a tacky JC Whitney add-on. That's just my opinion tho, you are free to do what you want with your car and you won't get any hate from me. fredrik94087
If you could color match the chrome on your grill with the color of your car, it would look nice, I think. I am planning on paint matching my grill's chrome parts with the color of my car (gray) "It's within spec" - SOA "Depth is only shallowness viewed from the side." - Fredism "So, how much did it cost for your car to be undriveable ." - Stephen (very close friend) "You have done so much it would be stupid to go back." - Sunny of Guru Electronics 2018Q50RS | 2015WrxThread | Shrek
ripstik
guess I would have to the chrome around the windows too if I'm gonna be getting rid of the rest of it HAHAHAHA Thanks TEASER. and yea I figured some people wouldn't like the idea that's why I put the "original" option up there. my grill has ben raped by dirt roads though. loads of chips in the chrome from one thing or the other. anyone know how to see who chose which option? I selected that option when making the poll but can't seem to see it anywhere.
ripstik
oh and the reason for wanting to do the hood insert is because its so clearly a different piece that I feel it should be a different color. I wish it were just a solid scoop then I wouldn't have the urge to Whitney it up
samsino93
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/17/zagequby.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/17/judume2a.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/17/yju8amyv.jpg All if the black is plasti except the roof, that's painted. Holds up very well and can always be fixed or redone no problem. Nothing to consider. Just remember that if you are doing it yourself to layer the coats cause if not it is a bitch to peel off. Dujo
If you ever have trouble getting it off, use goo gone ... dissolves plastidip. Enjoy!
JJBerk
I'm 100% with GTeaser. I love the chrome with blue, and am not a fan of doing anything with the scoop. IMO with this dark color, the scoop blends in and looks good. Looking at that picture makes me realize how badly she needs a bath today!
ripstik
since the weather is getting nice I may be doing this soon, maybe even tomorrow if I can find plastidip in stores near me. think I'm going with 2 coats of black and 2 coats of red. even though no one voted for red. but since its so easy to undo/redo I think I'm just gonna go for it a see how it comes out. hopefully it won't be too windy when I do get around to it because I don't have a garage to do it in
Dujo
Two coats may not be enough. If you want it to peel off, you need to get enough coverage so that the plastidip can bond to itself. If it's too thin, it's a bitch to get off (use goo gone as suggested). By the way, have you seen this: http://www.dipyourcar.com. Check out the videos for some good tips and examples. fredrik94087
I changed my mind. I am now all for plasti dipping flat black. NavigatorsLegacy
I have had front grille plastidip black for 2+ years now through car washes and North East weathers and 2 Hurricanes with NO ISSUES. Did 6 coats. Blacked out OEM grille looks more bad ass in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Eliott
dipped my whole car came out awesome Nice job, I think a little more black would look good. Maybe the bottom of the bumper, something on the rocker panels, door handles. Idk.

NavigatorsLegacy
Plastidip chameleon colors... Would u ever or no? I'm thinking this is for a rare Stage 3 tricked out STI or LGT or Forester STI...http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/22/jabypusu.jpg If I had an extra car I would do this. My wife told me she would never drive it or be seen with me in it....sounds like more of a challenge to me than a stonewall boycott. Of course, if I lived in Miami or Hawaii or SoCal, it might be easier to do this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
