pipewelder
I am the second owner of this car. It has been a great car but has recently started missing. The cause appears to be oil in the spark plug well. Any ideas what could cause this leak. The auto shop I sent it to seem reluctant to work on it since the mileage is high. (387k). I am being told the head probably needs replaced. I am willing to pay for the work but am reluctant to put a head back on that may also have issues. It appears the only resource is a junkyard. I have always driven inexpensive cars and don't mind putting money into them if I think I can get some time out of them. Thanks for any advice. Forgive for not doing a search on the forum. In on break and working 12-14 x 7.
leggy5280
Sounds like you need some valve cover gaskets, it should come with spark plug well gaskets too.
snederhiser
Hello; At nearly 400k miles, I think you have squeezed that last nickel out of her and putting any money into the engine could be better spent. If the body is still in good shape, would consider looking for another engine. Maybe another first gen lower mileage, and use yours for parts? Just a few thoughts, Steven.
