covertrussian
Alright spent some time looking up part numbers and here we are... Oil Pan 05 LGT/STi: 11109AA131 06 LGT/STi/FXT: 11109AA151 Oil Baffle 05 STi: No Baffle plate? 05 LGT: 10915AA010 06 LGT/STi/FXT: 10915AA010 Oil Pickup Tube (Oil Strainer) 05 LGT/STi: 15049AA070 06 LGT/STi/FXT: 15049AA110 Dipstick 05 LGT/STi: 11140AA120 06 LGT/STi/FXT: 11140AA150 In 2006 Subaru really tried to use as many of the same parts as possible, which is excellent for us. Judging from this list for an 05 LGT to go to 06 LGT Oil Pan, you will also need an 06 Pickup Tube and Dipstick. Baffle plates should be the same, but at ~$10 a piece might be safer just to get a new one anyway. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
MrTris
Good list! Honestly, for what I'm now seeing the KB pans and baffles go for (they used to be expensive, what happened?) I'm willing to spring for the baffle and pan next, especially since I'm considering their headers. .

MrTris
Where are you seeing these "deals" least I have seen is $450 for the lot (baffle/pickup/tube) I think we might have seen the same thing, then. After I posted this, I checked KBM and saw that their pickup was still $170-ish, and the baffle and pan together were still $672 Maybe one day when I hit the big one. . . covertrussian
Alright put my order in for Oilpan, Baffle, and Dipstick. Got them all at a great price from Underdog. I plan on using a Moroso 24965 oil pickup tube/strainer since 06+ ones tend to fail a lot. KillerB at Nasioc was saying 06+ STI ones last about 25k miles, which they are the same part number as LGT 06+. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
MrTris
What I'd like to see fixed most is the placement of the drainplug -- why is there still like, 3/4" of oil in the bottom of the pan, PLUS the restriction? Any thoughts on why it was designed like that?
covertrussian
It's actually like that for two reasons, both of them are for the safety of motor: - If a user forgets to add oil back and starts the car, the motor will still have about 1 pint to run on and not be 100% dry. - So that you don't accidentally scrub the bolt off if you hit a something. All cars I've ever worked on had some oil left in them, even my baffle-less Nissan oil pans have about 1 pint left inside the oil pan after you drain it. For this reason I got into the habit of buying 5qt jugs over 1gallon (cheaper anyway) even though my nissan take 3.8qts. I then leave the drain plug off and pour fresh oil into the engine, usually 1/2-1qt, then I watch the oil that's coming out, as soon as it golden see through oil starts coming out I reattach the drain plug, then change the filter and add the rest of the oil in. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK

Rhitter
So why is the killer b pick up pooping out at 25k? I think KillerB was saying that the stock 06+ STI pickups are failing at 25k miles. Not that their own are failing at 25k. My OBXT build

Reading Killer-Bees website it doesn't seem too bad...but you never know. Yup 06 oil pan, my stock one is fairly rusty anyway. It's not bad, just annoying that you have to prop engine up and unbolt the mounts. So why is the killer b pick up pooping out at 25k? KillerB found that OEM 06+ STI ones only last 25k miles. Now it's uncertain on what kind of load ranges they tested with. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
Rhitter
I replaced my engine mounts with GroupN last year - raising the engine wasn't that bad. Especially with cut-outs on the stock swaybar. Getting it back down was a little more difficult (had to remove the pitch-stop). Trying to break the seal and resealing the oil pan is what makes me uncomfortable. covertrussian
It's not that bad, just never ever use a screw driver, use a flatter object like a Spackle knife. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK

BoyceWare
If you don't already have one installed, put in a oil pressure gauge for the peace of mind. Simple install under the alternator.
