gtrdave
I ordered the OEM crossbars a couple days ago, so I should be good to go by next weekend.
Swannee225
Thule Square bars did notice a drop in mpg with this beast on...-5 max but I went over 80 with it..oops
dawkins20
I have the Thule aero blades and use it with sidearm bike carriers for my MTB and a force alpine Box for skis and gear. Aero blades are quiet enough that I generally leave them on all the time but they are super easy to take on and off. Far better than the older square bars and foot packs. The box goes on and off by myself in literally five minutes. The sidearm bike carriers are loud as he'll as they are not the least bit aerodynamic and a PITA to take on and off. Expensive setup but works awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TMF
How easy it is to install and uninstall the oem bars?
gtrdave
How easy it is to install and uninstall the oem bars? Hopefully, I can let you know tomorrow. My OEM bars arrived yesterday (thank you, Subaru Parts Mall!) and hopefully we'll have some above-freezing temps so I can wash the car and install the bars on Saturday. Looking over the instruction manual last night, the job looks easy breezy mac-n-cheezy.
apexsubie
My 9 year old daughter helped me install last weekend. An extra set of hands to ensure I didn't scratch the paint was the main thing. gtrdave
Crossbars are installed. Total time was less than an hour. Now I can't wait for the local trails to dry up...
linksusmaximus
Has anyone had any luck mounting an aftermarket fairing to the OEM crossbars? Is it possible / which brands work?
rxbike
http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1940&pictureid=9877 Inno roof rack. Aero bars, can fit rocky mounts and just about any attachments that uses H-track system. 2mpg reduction even with fairing.
TMF
Has anyone had any luck mounting an aftermarket fairing to the OEM crossbars? Is it possible / which brands work? Yup, the inno fairing mounts to the OEM rack. They recommend the large one, which is what I went with. The medium should work too, but will reduce the space between the fairing mounting points in the cross bar. bronconia
Just another way to add racks. I didn't have any mounting points in the gutter, and I didn't want the feet that went into the doors, so I went with this permanent solution: http://i.imgur.com/YuQBSDh.jpg I already had the square bars/attachments, so just purchased the new rails/feet. No discernible gas mileage decrease (maybe a half gallon?), and the noise is only noticeable in speeds below 40 mph (light whistling). Cruisin 80 on I-70 you can't even tell that I have them, with or without skis/boards!

b18c_ej8
Bumping for some current replies! Looking to add a rack/crossbars to my '13 3.6R that will be used a few times a year to get lumber and other large items home... And maybe to mount a light bar to :-P Any experience with an eBay type rack? I would love the OEM rack but can't justify the cost. This one caught my eye: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252540265716 Thoughts?
