boattlebot Posted February 6, 2014 Share Posted February 6, 2014 i want to put a 2.5 motor in my car, but i cant afford the 5mt swap as well and i know only autos came with egr. if i went to a stand alone pcm for the motor could i keep the automatic and put a non egr in my car? or do i need to find egr eaither way? im hoping to put an ej255 in my car but the ej253 would be nice as well. i just dont have the time anymore to have my car out of comission for a week to do the manual swap, or have the money for that matter Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

johnegg Posted February 7, 2014 Share Posted February 7, 2014 your car5 does not have EGR, so it does not matter if your new engine has it or not. but all ej25D 96 - 99 have EGR. why not just buy a 97 - 99 outback with a manual trans? sell yours. it will likely be cheaper, and for sure be faster.
