LegGtBK97 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 So i picked up a 1997 legacy gt wagon 5 speed 2.5(sohc or dohc not sure). my question is are there big differences in the wagon and sedan for this year as far as modifications are concern or can the same upgrades that are applied to the sedan can be applied to the wagon?
Stevo F Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Your 2.5 should be a DOHC I would love to get more 2nd gens but not enough money or space in the yard... and my wife wouldn't let me.
InsertEnigmaHere Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Different rear springs is the only major thing I can think of.
LegGtBK97 Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Yea these are awesome looking and driving cars. nice . i was thinking about putting in another ej25d and doing a little work to it just to keep it as a daily until i got some money to get a wrecked wrx. do you guys think its worth it? like doing the lightweight crankshaft pulley and all the basic upgrades for the ej25d and of course the headgaskets.
LegGtBK97 Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 I've heard that you would need to change the top half of the strut to accommodate lowered springs unless you get them specific for the car like coil-overs or lowering springs specific to the leggy. Right?
LegGtBK97 Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 like how much power can you get out of these ej25d? with out doing an hybrid engine
Zues Marine Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Forget about power with these motors, it will end up more cost effective in the long ruin to do a swap... Read through the stickies at the top of the second gen forum, it'll answer most questions you may have
LegGtBK97 Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 i have been i just wanted you guys 2 cents in the matter. i think you have covered alot in the stickies
Zues Marine Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 For performance (after longevity maintenance) this would be my list: I'd do a hybrid cold air intake, msd coil, Exedy clutch LW crank pulley, flywheel uel headers, High flow cat w/ o2 spacer, decent muffler Steering rack and drive line bushings Grounding mod That said, Suspension upgrades would be the primary mod target I'd recommend
