Stage 2 with new tune (some questions)

Recommended Posts

Earlier this year I ran my OTS stage II 08 Spec B at the strip and managed a 13.83 at 99 something with a 1.9 60'.

I ran yesterday for the first time with a pro tune from http://pure-tuning.com with the same set up and managed a 13.68 at 99.8 with a 1.8 60'.

I didn't expect a huge difference on the track with the tune but does a 13.68 sound slow for a stage II VF46 Spec B? Also I can't seem to run 13's consistently. I usually run my best in my first pass (after driving an hour to the track with maybe 30 minutes to cool before running) I got three more passes yesterday and couldn't repeat it. I had some cool down time seeing there was a bracket race and we ran between rounds and I know the track was pretty cold (it was in the 40's) but I ended up with 3 14.0's. On my last pass I had to be the first car down after a clean up and I spun a couple times in the first 100' if not for that it may have been a keeper.

What RPM's do you guys usually shift at? It seems like if you shift very high then the car is out of the meat of the power band when you get back into it.

Any help would be welcome.

My car's not a sleeper it's a hibernator.

lol sounds like my tune. i ran a 13.5 at 101 stock, then went stage 2 and ran a 13.8 at 99. it just depends on how it was tuned. i am however more impressed about the torque gains and i plan on taking my car to a circuit next year. 6k rpm would probably be best to shift at

Stage 2 you need to short shift.. like 6K RPM. How quickly are you able to shift between gears?

I think I short shifted on the first run just because it was my first pass since the spring and wasn't paying attention. Do any of you guys use the Cobb flat foot shift? The torque I got from my tune (and the cost of a VF52) is what is keeping me from going stage 3. I put down 322 wtq on the dyno and I know it might look more like 300wtq with the bigger turbo but I'll probably make closer to 300whp with the VF52 (650cc's) over the 255whp with the VF46.
