NavigatorsLegacy
Attention SUBIE OWNERS... I'm looking for HELP. I refuse to pay the dealer cost of $70 per light to change a bulb that is worth $12. If anyone could help me do this to save $$ I would be much appreciated. It's on the driver's side and I pulled fender partly back from wheel well and couldn't locate where I needed to go to change the low beam headlight on driver's side. If anyone could offer me assistance...I took some pics..... WHAT A PAIN! DO I HAVE TO REMOVE BATTERY AND REMOVE THE WHEEL TO DO THIS? http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p763/Navigators_Legacy/photo5_zps7bde7d30.jpg http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p763/Navigators_Legacy/photo3_zpsbbac1744.jpg http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p763/Navigators_Legacy/photo2_zps807a2807.jpg http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p763/Navigators_Legacy/photo1_zpse5d8258c.jpg Also....what is this? With Big "D" on it? http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p763/Navigators_Legacy/photo4_zps8bf07ef3.jpg
Captain Ned
That's your target. Turn it counter-clockwise and you're in. While you're down there, unplug the DRL dropping resistor as well (3rd pic, lower left).
Perscitus
Stop by AZP Installs on Saturday in the morning and we can help you there! Its a royal PITA overall but its much much easier to just pull the bumper, remove the headlight retainer, remove the headlight and swap the bulb (any/all). Then reinstall. Start to finish it should take about 15 minutes. Tip: you should replace both H7s, even if just one gave out. You always want to replace these and most bulbs in pairs. Part of the reason, if one went out, chances are the other will die soon too. The other is to equalize the light output (the newer bulb will be much brighter than a used up 2-3+ year old one on the left).
JJr
Seriously, pull the bumper for a bulb, I replaced both of mine it was very simple and I'm not super mechanical, most of the stuff everyone is talking about is way over my head:lol:
km580
^^^^+1 on pulling the bumper. It is REAL easy. Since you will have the bumper off, you should just install HID's and get it over with. I got my kit on Amazon for $48.00, so far so good. Fat people are hard to kidnap!!!

While you're down there, unplug the DRL dropping resistor as well (3rd pic, lower left). If I unplug that resistor, does that mean I can shut off my stupid DRL's now....that would be sweet. THANKS Thanks...I plan to replace both and to tackle this thing tomorrow. I'm wondering how bad the passenger side is to replace. Now that I have a idea....I hope to complete this. If not...then off to AZP.
Captain Ned
Passenger side is easier as there's a lot less in the way and what is isn't as sharp and pointy. And yes, unplugging the resistor kills the DRLs. EDIT: If you weren't doing this tomorrow, I'd advise grabbing a pair of these bulbs: http://store.candlepower.com/osraulhiouh7.html Essentially an H9 candle on an H7 base and a 50% increase in lumens. I just love mine.

NavigatorsLegacy
HELP AGAIN! I installed the broken bulb on my driver's side and noticed at night that the one bulb I replaced shoots low. I noticed I had installed the metal clasp that swings open and snaps back into place was not set properly. So, I re-installed again this Morning and hope to check it out again tonight. Any words of advice? If my big bear hands accidentally hit something else than I am in trouble because I have no idea how to level a light correctly. HELP ME PLEASE. THANKS AGAIN! Captain Ned
You won't move the housing in replacing a bulb so won't need to re-aim. The key is making sure the bulb tabs are in their proper notches and the spring clamp is in the right place. Replacing that clamp blindly is probably the worst part of doing this job through the fender well.
Captain Ned
Meltage why? 65w and 2100 lumens is probably too hot for the plastic fog light housings.

After adjusting the light to fit properly I was disappointed from the light output so I placed an order for the OSRAM RALLYE lights you recommended. I hope this makes for a noticeable improvement.
