mikewrx-nj Posted August 21, 2005 Share Posted August 21, 2005 word of mouth isn't wrong. nation numbers don't reflect how 2-3 cars were being stolen A WEEK last spring! the wrx is a very hot car in NJ for theft. if you bring a WRX anywhere within 10 miles of newark, you're taking a risk. They've even took cars off of dealer lots all the way up in ramsey on route 17. however there hasn't been any reports of a stolen 05 Sti (chipped keys) one incident was when the car was recovered a few blocks away b/c they couldn't get it started. 125 hits in the last year for stolen imprezas at nasioc. and that's only club members. http://www.tssoc.com/gallery/albums/nasioc/stolen.sized.gif Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'd say acura integra's pretty much have a lock on most stolen. Imprezas are the most stolen subaru though. CCCIS 2004 list 1. 1999 Acura Integra 2. 2002 BMW M Roadster...... 10. 1992 Mercedes-Benz 600.............. 22. 1994 Audi Cabriolet 23. 2001 BMW M Roadster I've seen the above list before and it makes no sense whatsoever. How could any year BMW M Roadster or Audi Cabriolet be in the list when there simply was never enough of the cars made to come even close? My cousin had a S4 theft recovery at his shop man that thing sounded horrible they must have redlined the hell out of it. Had a nasty valve tick on it was a nice car too. Elizabeth is the worst though my car got broken into 3 spots from the front of the Shoprite I worked at. They stole my radio, amp and speakers and I had a alarm and when I came out for lunch I was pissed. My door was wide open and my stuff was gone. Ok, did some more research, CCCIS numbers are crap, it's based on claims against insurance, and form things like the M roadster, it's got to be based on dollar value per claim, or stolen vs. indured. Basically, it's the list to look at when shopping for a car to guess at bad premiums. NICB is based on police reports. I'm guessing the M roadster claims are pricey, or maybe M roadster owners are just comitting fraud. Impreza theft rates are high, but nowhere near the likes of the Integra. Legacy rates are substantially less than the impreza's rate, or the rate of a mitsu eclipse. I just use the lists in my parking strategy. Don't leave your car overnight in deserted or strange places without disabling it. don't leave crap in your car. park near something that is high on the stolen list for what must be parts rather than fun, and park near something that looks a lot more fun to joyride.
