djharlock
If you guys can do me a favor and take a quick look here. The idle pulley has a bit of a wobble to it and I can visibly see 4 of the bearings rubbing up against the outside. I heard a whirring / whine earlier today / yesterday but it sounded like the usual heatshield getting loose again so I pulled out the ol' wrench to tighten the bolt down and noticed the sound persisting while I wasn't idling took a look under the hood and bam, this was winking me in the face. My question is.. I'm at work right now, how much of a gamble would it be to drive this home and to my mechanic in the morning?
chucky_z
I would personally just remove the belt until you can get it fixed, that belt does nothing but drive the A/C so you should be just fine if you can live without A/C for a little bit. I would be careful as if that fails it could take out the other belt with it which >would< leave you stranded.
JmP6889928
+1...Just remove the belt and you're good to go. Or you can just remove the entire idler pulley assembly as you're going to need to remove it to replace the bearing anyway.
