quick4dr
Where is the fastest, cheapest place to order a drivers front axle from? Any particular brand recommended, or recommended to stay away from?
lockmedic
How good are you at swapping axles? If you're doing it yourself don't mind going through a few clunkers, new aftermarket is worth a shot. I've used ones from O'Reiley's with decent results. If you're paying someone else to do it, reman OEM.
quick4dr
will be doing the work myself, don't have O'Reiley's near me.
Mega Users seabass07 Posted October 1, 2013 Mega Users Share Posted October 1, 2013 Just be aware that a lot of aftermarket ones can severely increase vibration at idle. Mine did it for about 8k miles before they wore in a bit. Mine are the o'reileys ones.

fishbone
Well shucks, looks like they are out of stock? They were the best around, I think $75 shipped brand new. Solid axles, I have one. This one looks to be identical but different brand (not EMPI). I've posted it in the other thread for feedback. http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto/parts/2005/subaru/legacy/cv_axle/cv_front_axle_shaft.html?3593=81609 Beware of possible fitment issue/incorrect part the one I listed. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/halfshaft-work-05-lgti-130785p4.html

Did you get the remanufactured axle or the new axle from NAPA? All I need now is a hill holder and a center passing light...

TurboCool
Just had a new FEQ brand axle installed on my 5eat. Now the car vibrates at stops when it's in gear. Found out a lot of people have problems with new aftermarket axles. So I will be swapping the new FEQ axle for a remanufactured Duralast, part number 7336. I'll let everybody know how it turns out. TurboCool
Had the new FEQ axle replaced with the re-manufactured Duralast one. Vibration is gone. Funny how an axle can cause vibration when it's not even in motion.
