2008 - 2012 STI Brembos

Hi there,

I am wondering if anyone has swapped the 2008 - 2012 black STI brembos onto a legacy GT.

I want to know if the calipers are the exact same dimensions and fitment as the older style gold ones (around 2004ish version7??) So basically what I am asking is are all sti brembos the same?

What I want to know is if I can use 08 STI brembos on my car, is it the exact same process as swapping the older style gold brembos? So can I just go out and buy 2004 STI rotors (5x100) for the front and rear and buy the adapter bracket for the rear with the larger drum shoe you can buy for the parking brake and call it a day. Or do the 2004 STI rotors not fit into this brake setup and I would have to get 08 rotors and redrill them for 5x100. If that is the case I would just stay away from going with this setup because rotors would be a pain in the ass to drill every time.

Thanks in advance!

Only the fronts are useable. The rears you will need a different bracket than the one used for the 04-07 onto a 05-07 LGT.

For the fronts, we sell dual drilled rotors that are both 5x100 and 5x114 for STi these would work for your car.

Thanks mike that clears everything up then ill see if I can source down the bracket for the rears if not may just look for an older set of brembos since it seems to be less of a headache

Get in touch with the guys over at KNS Brakes, great friends of mine and if it exists they will have it.

Yes, that was actually where I was going to order the parts from to do the swap, Ill have to see if they have an option for 08 - 12 calipers if not i can always source down 04 - 07 calipers as the guys at kns brakes do sell everything needed to bolt those right up to our cars!! Thanks again for your help!

I really want to get some info about fitting the 08+ STI rear calipers on my OBK. I see no brackets anywhere though. I read one post that someone said that the caliper almost bolts up, but it just needs to be spaced properly. Not much info to go on

What kind of racing are you guys doing? LGT brakes worked fine for us and we've been instructing at the track for over 10 years and run in the fastest run group! Proper pads and brembos, especially rears, are unnecessary.

No racing for me (not yet anyway). While the LGT brakes would be a good upgrade, if I need to source replacement brakes I want the bling that the STI calipers give.

OP, if it turns out that you can't use the rears, let me know and I can take them off your hands for a fair price. They are a direct fit to my 2012 LGT and would save me from needing the KNS brackets for pre 08 Brembo rears.
