rje88
Was driving and stepped on the gas and trans downshifted (auto) and then all of sudden it acts like its in neutral. Any ideas? rje88
trans going bye-bye. aka. its failing Is there any certain part of the trans that would cause this? If its something that needs rebuilding then I'm stuck with buying used auto trans...Or I'm thinking of trying to find a donor vehicle that is a 5 speed. Would you know by chance what's needed for a swap? I'm guessing trans, flywheel/pressure plate/clutch, shifter/pedal assembly, clutch master cylinder? Is the drive shaft different? Will my current front diff work with a manual?
mnstrmech
i cant answer any questions related to converting to a manual. Never done it. As far as the auto, usually a full rebuild is suggested anytime you have problems. Its a "while your there" thing. as in, while your there, might as well do it. Thanks for all your help. I'll let you know the outcome. I'm going to just swap in a used auto trans. There is no 5 speed 1st gen legacy's in my area. mnstrmech
i recommened with any used trans drop the pan and throw in a fresh filter and i love the Valvoline Max-Life trans fluid. VERY good stuff. http://www.valvoline.com/products/brands/maxlife/automatic-transmission-fluid/37 A bit more than regular fluid price wise, but synthetic based. Good stuff. monkeyposeur
You probably know this but make sure the trans you swap in matches your rear diff.
