Shello007
Anyone in my area willing to help me install boost and oil pressure gauges. I know there's a walk through; but I'm more adept at mechanical over electrical. I did the boost in my WRX, but this one may be a lil more tricky. No flaming please!!! grovlet
I used this site for reference: Legacy Boost Gauge Install Also note an Electric Gauge is easier.... You tie in the the Boost Signal Line into the same spot but it just goes to an electrical sender in the engine bay. This means you just need to run electrical wires into the the cabin through the Grommet. Other than that if you do mechanical work, electrical boost is really pretty easy. Mechanical Boost requires just a slight bit more work with the nylon line needing to be feed through as well. Took me about 45 start to finish to do my electric following the walk-though above. mikeyvt
I'm not in the area but I did run a Mechanical boost gauge in my wagon. There is a spot on the firewall that is easier to run your vac line through that I found on the firewall. It took me a couple of mins to run it through the rubber grommet to my vac T. I'll see if I can grab a pic tomorrow. Question is where are you planning to run your gauges? I ran mine to the cubby. Here's my thread with pics of the gauges installed. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/new-sunglasses-holder-209754.html?t=209754
Shello007
I am installing in cubby..I think the electrical part is what's intimidating. Did you do the cubby? If so, did you have to trim the gauge pod? Mine doesn't seem to be fitting correctly. Door doesn't close. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow; I fear no man because Faith is my arrow . mikeyvt
Yeah I did the cubby install. Pics of the gauges installed in the cubby are in the link in my previous post. I actually just made a custom gauge pod. I did a couple with plastic and my final product with a carbon sheet. The firewall section I used is just behind the intercooler and a tad lower. I have a STi topmout so you prob have a little more room with a stock topmount. Here are the pics of where I ran the line through. You also see 2 other wires coming out. 1 for my alarm siren and 1 for my wideband. Hope this helps. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/17/behurudy.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/17/9azu4asy.jpg I am installing in cubby..I think the electrical part is what's intimidating. mikeyvt
Also forgot to add that I ran my power for the light for my mech boost gauge off the cubby light. It doesnt draw a lot of power and when i turn on my lights that backlight comes on. Yeah I did the cubby install. Pics of the gauges installed in the cubby are in the link in my previous post. mikeyvt
If you run a small wire through that section and shine a light through from the engine bay you will see where it comes through behind the cubby. When you pullout the cubby and are looking inside to grommet is to the left and really easy to get to. I had a fish tape I used but a coat hanger will work. Shello007
That option doesn't work for me. I have another brake fluid reservoir, where you have that grommet.
