03 Subaru Legacy B4

Hey guys, so last weekend I went to Auckland to pick up my new legacy daily driver! It's not a 05+ but it is still a BL so I figured i'd post it here haha

 

She's a 2003 Legacy B4 GT, 2L single turbo done 126xxxkms, pretty much completely untouched. Nothing modified in the engine bay. All it has as aftermarket is a 5 star Mongoose alarm, some 18' Sportec Wheels (Made by rays and apparently really rare) and assuming some lowering springs, it's got factory bilstien shocks and some prova springs (factory? :S).

 

Considering it's a daily driver i'm not looking to mod it too much, just a few simple mods. These will consist of New wheels (Unsure what wheels of yet... Any suggestions?), a Apexi N1 exhaust, a Apexi power intake kit, a STI front lip, and a tune to finish it all off.

Okay it's beet two years since I've had this and two years since I've updated

 

I guess better late than never right? Anyway, now I've had a lot of time to actually figure out what to do/how to do it blah blah. I've sorta of gone away from the whole "I won't mod it much" as ya do Anyway, It's still got a LONG way to go, but in the end I'm wanting a good daily driver with 250kw atw. I'll get there eventaully. As for now, update!

 

I put on a Kakimoto cat-back. It was horribly droney so I put the stock one back on.

 

I got it dyno'd in completely stock form. 152kw atw. Not ridiculously bad.

Found myself a set of STI Genomes they're for a BP5 however. I couldn't seem to find a set for BL5's.

I took it to a trackday or two and the breaks were decent. However I didn't really feel I could rely on them for a whole day of track work. So just to be safe. If you wanna go fast, you've got to stop just as good right? Brembos it is!

I went on a road trip after that and a few launchs later my clutch decided to slip, so naturally you go with a Exedy Heavy duty clutch kit with a single mass flywheel conversion.

I was going to get pulled up on a warrent for my front inner rear control arm bushes so decided to replace them with whiteline products.

So from here, obviously I had to decide what to do. I could have either got a spare engine from a wreckers put it in and be done with it. Or, I could have fully built my 2.0L block with a closed deck, forged rods/pistons etc etc.

So. All I'm waiting for now is the turbo to arrive, and then forged pistons for the shortblock which are a few weeks away and I'll get into building this!
