Air Conditioning Problem: A/C Temperature Control Thermostat?

Recommended Posts

So I just got my car back from the shop for a conversion to R-134A from R12, hoping that a simple charging would fix the fact that my A/C doesn't blow cold. Well, it didn't, but the guy at the shop said the problem now lies with something called the A/C temperature control thermostat. I'm not familiar with A/C systems, but the price they quoted me is out of my range, so I'm going to delve into doing it myself if possible.

What he told me is this is something by (maybe affixed to) the evaporator behind the glovebox? Can someone point out in a diagram what exactly I'm looking for and maybe give a part #?

Thanks.

Edit: It may be an expansion valve issue, as asking my cousin he responded that it may not be temperature controlled.

Anyways, my current issue is it blows, just not cold. Compressor also isn't spinning still after a recharge.

i would check all ele. first, fuse, pressure switches to make sure all is in order first. there is something keeping the a/c compressor to turn on. and if its just been recharged then maybe a pressure switch. first see if your getting voltage to the compressor clutch!!
