  1. The firmware update has nothing to do with the Starlink 3G network. Your navigation and various other head unit operations should all continue to work just fine, although Subaru did just also come out and say they stopped supporting the Starlink app and that will no longer work on the head unit. But the 3G network strictly involves the emergency system where you press a button up by your rearview mirror that contacts Subaru Starlink, or I believe it automatically does it if you’re in an accident. Subaru was offering a free update to 4G a while back if you had a Starlink subscription, which I was fortunate enough to get. But I think as of March 2022 they stopped offering the update. I know I actually came across the TSB with the instructions to perform the update and I purchased a CD about a year ago with tons of .pak files on it for flashing updates to the DCM. I might actually have the .pak file that they used to flash that Starlink update.
  2. Unfortunately what you need is not available from Outback John's Google Drive page. You might be able to gain access to them by purchasing a 3-day pass for the Subaru STIS Site: Subaru Technical Information System Once you have done that and created an account, you can login to the following page which has all available downloads: https://www.subarunet.com/snet/secure/business/service/forms/gen_2_fujitsu_denso.htm This will take you directly to the Fujitsu updates but you should see tabs that you can click on at the top that take you to the different brands of head units.

  4. The latest Gracenote update is GN_NA_14108 You can find it at the following link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZoxF0llKjYlQEQR-5GdN1VFDsodBgnvs?usp=sharing Download the one that says GN_NA_14108_Fixed.exe
  5. You need NU9022_USB_1st.exe and NU9022_USB_2nd.exe They can be downloaded from the following link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZoxF0llKjYlQEQR-5GdN1VFDsodBgnvs?usp=sharing
  6. That is incorrect actually. You need NU9022_USB_1st.exe and NU9022_USB_2nd.exe. You'll see that on TSB 15-205-16R Revised on 12/21/2020. Outback_Jon has all the files to download on his google drive which can be accessed at the following link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZoxF0llKjYlQEQR-5GdN1VFDsodBgnvs?usp=sharing
  7. So it seems the method to resolve this issue is simply to turn off your bluetooth connection on the iPhone and then turn it back on. Everything will repair and then the text messages will come through. I've done this several times now and it works on the first try. This is much less of a hassle than having to unpair the phone, forget the bluetooth connection in your phone settings, and then repair.
  8. My issue occurs much more frequently than 3 months. It can happen in just a few days. Starting to become very frustrating. And again, I find it interesting that this didn’t happen until I upgraded my iPhone 7 software to iOS 15. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see if this issue becomes more common for anything to be done about it. It’s frustrating because the whole reason I got an iPhone was due to the Siri integration it has with my 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5i premium which allows you to send custom text messages.
  9. I was wondering if there's anyone out there using an iPhone 7 with iOS 15 installed, or any iPhone with iOS 15 for that matter, who has a MY 2015-2019 Legacy/Outback with the Generation 2 Fujitsu-Ten head unit. If so, have you been experiencing issues with text messages not being imported and then going to the setup to import text messages, and that won't work either? This is happening to me every now and then, and to fix it, I have to unpair my iPhone 7, forget the device under the bluetooth settings on my iPhone, and then repair. I'm also making sure that "show notifications" is turned on in the bluetooth settings on my iPhone for the Subaru. This problem never happened to me before until I updated my iOS software to version 15. I wonder if the firmware for the head unit needs another update to work with iOS 15? (I currently have the latest firmware installed for my head unit..OU9313 for a 2016 Outback 2.5i Premium) I contacted Subaru about this and they said they would pass along the message to Fujitsu. I was just curious though how many others are experiencing this same thing. I would think it has to be a firmware compatibility issue if plenty more respond saying they started having this problem once their phone was upgraded to iOS 15. Look forward to any responses. Thank you!
  10. I'm seeing there is a new Gracenote Update 13865. I imagine the filename would be GN_NA_13865.exe Does anyone happen to have access to this file? Doing a google search pulled up nothing for me.
  11. Yup! That was the same issue for me too...all the channels that were bad were the presets. Still frustrating that my local Subaru dealer had no idea about this when it was addressed by a Subaru TSB over a month ago. Just goes to show how important it is to have these Subi forums and members who are really into their Subis :-) All the best!
  12. Best of luck! I really hope this simple solution works for you! Hope others don't have to go through the crazy process I did to figure out such a simple solution. For future reference as well, here is the link to SiriusXM's complete channel lineup: https://www.siriusxm.com/channels You can select what plan you have, then where you have all the different categories, just change it to "All" and it will show you every single channel that currently exists with your plan.
  13. Hey folks. It's been a while but just wanted to let you know about an important update with this firmware upgrade and my problem that I explained in a few previous posts. Think I finally figured out the issue for good, and it was so simple, yet so hard to come by the solution. Long story short is that there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with OU9313. I also didn't do anything to brick the head unit. I went to my local dealer and they simply tried disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes then reconnecting and driving for a little bit and this temporarily fixed the issue, but then of course it came back. They told me they had no idea then what was causing the problem and said I needed to replace the head unit. So guess what, I replaced the head unit, and wouldn't you know it the same darn problem started happening again. Fortunately I was able to return the replacement head unit and get my money back. I did some more digging online and came to find a recent TSB by Subaru titled 15-177-14R originally dated 10/16/14 but was revised on 06/25/21. This service bulletin specifically addresses weird issues that can happen with the head unit for the MY 2015-2017 and sure enough, on the last page of the TSB, the specific revision that they made involved SiriusXM locking up. Here is a link to the TSB: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10198770-0001.pdf What it says is that SiriusXM will update their channel lineup occasionally and sometimes they end up removing channels. If you happen to have channels saved in your preset list/smart favorites, and these channels no longer exist, it can cause SiriusXM to lock up. Sure enough I checked and I had 3 presets that no longer exist, plus, they were set to Smart Favorites as well. I deleted them, and guess what, the problem seems to be fixed! I've driven a few short trips now starting and stopping car with SiriusXM staying as my audio source and it loads up and works just fine. Knock on wood this finally solves it! Talk about something so simple yet so hard to come by. It is a little frustrating that I went to the dealer only a little over a week ago, and they had no idea about this TSB which specifically addressed the problem.
  14. Well guess what everyone...assuming you have the files...you can flash back to a previous firmware version...glad I kept the old ones. So I went back to OU9312 and everything is working like normal again! Wooohooo! Big sigh of relief. Multiple times I have stopped and started the car and SiriusXM works no problem. Clearly there is some issue with the new firmware update OU9313 for a 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium with the Radio Headplate ID# FB685UM that's without navigation. Based on my experience here, I would highly advise against installing this latest firmware release...stick to OU9312. Hope this helps others out and saves many from the headaches I just experienced.
  15. Well scratch that. It worked perfectly fine right after I did the re-install, but just went out for a quick errand and sure enough, the problem presented itself again. Uggghhh!!! So frustrating. I guess the only thing left to do before going to the dealer is trying to reflash the previous firmware I had on it. Has anyone attempted this before? Maybe I'll try calling Sirius to see if by dumb luck they have to reset something with my subscription. I bet if I go to the dealer the answer will be we need to replace your head unit $$$$.
