Thanks for the reply back Mike. I know with the epics and Konis the car is very planted. Not wanting to lose that. But being lowered in NYC sucks.

Yup, I only noticed a slight difference between stock and STi Pinks on my 05 LGT when I had switched over to them. Nothing that a competent driver couldn't compensate for, even on the track.

`How do you like the stock springs with the Konis, I am debating on switching my Epics to stock. any feedback would be helpful
Used stocks for a year on track, no issues, just not as low as other springs. Definitely a good combination.

Trying to work out a wholesale deal with a local turbo retailer who sells several hundred Subaru replacement turbos per year. If they are wiling to buy 50-100 sets and pay up front than I can have more made now.
Mike,
Shoot me an e-mail, we would definitely pre purchase at least 10 sets.

I would personally start with the easy things:
The belt is probably due for replacement, so do that, can't hurt at this point.
Use a turkey baster to suck out as much of the fluid from the reservoir as you can and put in some Redline Synthetic Power Steering fluid.
If the problem persists then pursue the o-ring replacement route.

On the wagons, how do you guys do the shock adjustment since its hidden under the trim?
I cut a flap into the carpet so I could pull it out and adjust it. Or you can pull the rear floor out when you need to adjust them.

Yeah, I know, you replied to me earlier in this thread. I appreciated the input very much.
I know WD40 isn't strictly speaking a lubricant but it does have SOME lubricant in it, like petroleum, which is why it only stopped the squeaking for about 1-2 months before it came back, oops.
Yeah, the oil/spray oil will get washed away, especially in this environment in NY/NJ where we get a lot of water spray, puddles, and misc. fluids/excrements shot up under the cars all year long. A good heavy grease will likely last longer as well.

WD40 is not a lubricant, it is actually a water displacement (WD) solution, so you'll want to apply grease on them.
We have had great luck with the McMaster-Carr. Item# 5236K482, but you need to remove the springs and push this tubing over the coils (especially the ones close together) in order to make it work properly, we now do it as a precaution on all LGT rear Koni and/or Epic spring installs.

Nope.

That is the issue. You are coming up the distance of the spacers short.

If one wanted to save a couple bucks, you could use the Impreza/WRX/STI/SpecB front bushing, it is solid as well (though probably softer rubber than GpN) and the cost is something like $10-15 vs the $65-70 each for the Group-N. The front bushing is so small it is not affecting compliance much, in fact that is the purpose of the design. The rear bushing is 95% of the handling improvement you are looking for.
For $45 you can get the Whiteline inner control arm bushing kit (both left and right sides).
Heck for about $180 shipped we'll send you both the inner and rear kits!

No problem. Nothing against the previously mentioned retailer. I actually run 2 of their parts on my wifes 5EAT. I also noted FBP before my own company as we are both forum vendors and both carry the same spacers. IIrc Paranoid Fabrications used to be a vendor here too. If I dont get the sale, I would prefer to see another forum vendor get it.
And the markup on the spacers is almost zero, so no need to fight over them but definitely get em from Infamous or AZP.

Just wondering if this process is exactly the same for any springs? I ordered Koni Yellows and Tein H techs for my 08 Legacy 2.5i. Is there different measurements for the cut with different springs, or can I use this DIY safely with my Tein H's??
Yup same process.

I think I have read this whole thread and I don't remember this being addressed... If I cut right at the edge of the silver cap, will the Koni inserts pull in properly? That seems like an easy way to get a straight cut with a hacksaw if it doesn't leave them too long, and if I can avoid buying a pipe cutter why not?
Thanks, Doug
You will want the pipe cutter, well worth the money. The hack saw gives you a rough cut, the pipe cutter gives you a nice smooth cut.

Konis are no match for a good set of coils. No strut made for the LGT is going to "compete" with a set of good coils. "Good" in my book being KWV2/RCE Tarmacs, Bilstein BSS, AST and possibly Tein Flex.
Agreed 100%, although I would leave the Teins off the list.

So... I appear to have a squeak. Weather as of late has been in the 50-70F range. Seems to squeak more in the cold as this early morning it was chilly and squeaked like crazy. Seems to be coming from the rear, not the front. In the rear, I replaced the strut mouonts, but I did not replace the spring perch. Also, my Epics came with a length of black sheathing / tubing for part of the spring.
I would hate to have to remove the rears to replace the spring perch, but I wonder if that could be it. I'm going to try moving the wrap into the tighter section of the springs to see if that helps. Hope I can do it just by jacking up the car and reaching into the well.
Mike, what kind of tubing/wrap do you use to do the whole spring? I wonder if I can wrap it with the whole thing still mounted. I really don't want to remove the whole rear shock.
We use either the Home Depot wire loom stuff or the McMaster tubing. I think the mcmaster is better/more durable but costs more and is a bit of a PITA to install. We always R&R it when we do it because those coils are pretty tight and it just makes it quicker to R&R than try to do it 1/2 assed on the car.

Good luck to you sir on the endeavor. I honestly hope you can find a way to make it work. I tried. Shipping costs and failed core returns (OEM bodies) killed my attempt. I still keep a set ready to install at the shop, but I dont offer to package and ship them anymore.
But core return issues also killed the fuel pump housing mods we used to do as well.
The price will be a premium for a premium service. We are going to use new housings with a core return refund if they decide to send them back. I'm not going to end up selling a ton of them but a few here and there.

I think if you cut it to the instructions it may be too short.
As another poster said, stick your insert into it, if it bottoms out and the nubs on the insert are not below the cut, then you cut too much.
