  1. Just curious, does it happen when you're just cruising along on a flat road? I used to get flashed from time to time when I was accelerating in my 4th gen, because the car "squats" so to speak and the headlights point up when I accelerate, like rockier said above.

Yes, this is what mine did and if you look at the Angle Gauge on the dash it looks like you are going up hill and be on flat ground.

The coils spring change all that and the car does ride like it is suppose to.

I think when they done the test on the new base (frame), they used the Outback as the platform and then wanted to give the Legacy a better ride and soften the coils in the back. This change the way the car rides and handles.

If you think about your ride when you go over a dip in the road the front of the car goes in and back and stops, but the back of the car is out of time with the front of the car. This makes for a bad ride and a unstable car.

  2. Check the rear coils. I had that problem with the back of the car sets to low and the head lights are pointing up. Do you notice the Angle gauge in the car not accurate. Open up the truck and put your weight in it. Does the car drop about 2 to 3 inch. I also notice when making fast turns the car felt like the back of the car wanted to go around on me.

My fix was to have a Custom Subaru shop here in town put the coils from the 2020 Outback on the car. This change the ride, handling, and the back of the car being staple. With all that the head lights are pointing where they should be and the Angle gauge in the car is correct now.

I hope this help it did in my car. I picked it up 10/2019

  3. It is definitely a very different experience. But what you described - revs jumping all over - is exactly what I perceive as well. Over time you learn to anticipate what the engine is going to do and learn how to compensate. I came from an ‘06 Legacy GT manual transmission so I’m really having to learn. But even from a standard automatic transmission this is a major change.

The behavior of the car doesn’t change but your driving habits will as your experience grows. The paddle shifters can also help get the revs where you need them when slowing down as well as accelerating although I don’t often use them. One thing that will never change is trying to floor it from a stop, that just does not work with this set up. So anticipate this when making turns on red or proceeding after a stop sign. Don’t try to dart out past oncoming traffic, that will just get you hit or at least get horns blowing at you.

You know, the taking off from a dead stop was real sluggish on mine to and then the fuel pump went out like the recall of the 2019's. After the fuel pump replacement the car has a great hole shot from a dead stop. What also changed was the car trying to push my foot off the peddle and not let me go. Now when I push the peddle it takes off like crazy.

My car does now have over 9K but after the fuel pump change the car wants to go. I just made a long trip and was on the freeway cruising 80+ and there is a car going slow in front of me I floor it and by the time I go around the car I was over 100. WOW

A lot of these post I read about the way the car is running I do be leave it is the fuel pump not getting the gas to the motor and on these cars it will cut back so you cannot hurt the motor. Just my look at it and what has happen to my car.

Love the car more now after fuel pump change.

  4. Yes! Like that! Thanks! It looks subtle but not. Can't say I'm a fan but I guess I'd also have to reserve it for an in person review. :)

It looks a lot better then not having it at all.

I know some people like the real big ones, but I think they are hard to see behind you thru the rear view mirror.

This one you can slightly see it in the mirror.

  5. I got the e-mail for the map update and did it yesterday. At first I thought things went real bad. I got an error it could not update and then my map was gone. I tried it again and the updated took 3 hours to complete. When done it was all back and working fine.

Boy, what a scare this was at first.

If you read the screen it says you can turn the car on and off and it will complete. That is right and I had to turn the car on many times to get it to complete.

Good luck to everyone that does this. Just keep trying it will complete. It just take a lot of time.

  6. I have a little update for everyone. I had a Subie shop here in town put the 2020 Outback rear coil springs on the 2020 Limited Legacy. I then put about 200 pounds in the trunk and made a 600 mile trip to California. About 100 miles of it was thru really sharp right and left turns. My assessment of the ride and handling was so much better handling and a improvement in the car it was not the same car.

First the handling in turns with the old coil springs made me feel like I did not have full control of the car in the rear. With the Outback coil spring on the car I was doing between 40 to 50 miles and hour around real sharp turns and the car hug the corners like a race car.

The other thing I notice was the car with normal driving around town with the original coil spring felt real springy in the back and not sold like the front of the car. If you went over a bump the rear of the car would sway all over the place and not be in time with the front of the car. With the 2020 Outback coil springs on the car and hitting a bump with the hole car going up and down evenly making it a lot better ride.

What the Subie mechanic told me that the rear of my car was lower then the front about 1" and after installing the Outback coil springs the rear sat about 1 1/4" higher then the front. What else I notice is the Angle reading in the car was more accurate when going up and down hills.

This is just my opinion but this was the best change to the car I be leave I have made.

  7. Yes, I got an e-mail from Subaru too

We apologize for any inconvenience and issues. We are committed to making your STARLINK® system better with each update to ensure your Subaru ownership experience is enjoyable.

  8. Unless you have 502 or 503 you will not see the OTA update. Those that have installed it - 704 - from 502 have had major issues. Those updating from 503 seem to have it install without issue. My choice would be to go the dealer and have them do the 504 update. If you’re still on 502 I wouldn’t touch the OTA one.

Why not I was on the 502 and upgraded my self to 504 with no problems. I do not see any other issue with the upgrade.

  9. I'm currently having an issue with a 2020 Legacy beeping every 30 seconds while off. It only does this when it's in or around the garage. Removing the key well out of range doesn't seem to do anything.

I've cleared out my HomeLink mirror and disconnected my bluetooth. I took it in, but they could not replicate the problem. It seems to only do this while in my garage or outside of it.

Anyone ever heard of this or have any ideas on a fix?

Mine does this if the car is started (engine running) and I get out of the car. When I get back in an put the seat belt on it goes off. If I do not put the seat belt on it keeps beeping. Even if I turn off the car but do not get out. When I open the door after engine off it stops.

Not sure if this is the same thing that is going on with you.

I think this is a sign to not leave the card running and walk a way.

  10. Picked up my Limited XT Friday (after 6 months of waiting). Very happy with the car. Lots of learning to do. Hopefully some of you may be able to answer:

Heated Seats: My old 5th gen had mechanical buttons for the heaters which was great for auto start in the winter. Now they are controlled on the touchscreen. Has anybody came across a setting that allows me to auto turn on the heated seats when the car starts or when the auto start activates?

XM Radio Presets: I have a bunch of radio preset channels set up. I go to the screen and select a preset channel. Then the screen of preset channels disappears and I get the screen that allows you to pause, rewind or fast forward the song. There is no longer any button that allows me to go back to the screen with all the preset channels. I have only found that pressing the fast forward button gets me back to the preset channel selection screen along with the song skipping ahead a few seconds. Any other way to get back to the preset screen?

Here is the doc that talks about it.

  11. there is a known class action lawsuit against this and a recall

what is the manufacture date of your legacy?

In my post I related to the recall and know about it. I received my 2020 Legacy in Oct 27 2019. I was only posting here so everyone else knows about the recall and the problem with the fuel pumps. This is a problem with the Outback too.

    Happy driving.

PS the dealer is talking care of me so far. Gave me a rental car in tell the car is fixed and returned to me.

  12. My 2020 Legacy just had the fuel pump failure that was in the 2019 cars. My friend and I was out and we stop at Five Guys burgers and when we came out the car started real ruff and died. The car would not start at all. Had star link tow the car to the dealer and now it set's there waiting for a full pump. The dealer told me the fuel pump will not be in tell August 10. WOW.

The car only has 8k miles on it.

If your car starts to run rough have the fuel pump check are you will be stuck.

  13. From the email I received:

I'm writing to let you know that the Autostop Eliminator for the Subaru Outback is now available for pre-order. We have a video on the product page detailing the installation process and function of the device.

    https://www.autostopeliminator.com/products/2020-subaru-outback-autostop-eliminator

We're still working to get a lead time on the connectors needed for the device. Once we have an ETA on the connectors, we'll update the product page with an estimated ship date.

Please help your fellow Outback owners find us by spreading the word on the forums and other forms of social media.

I just ordered one and will let you know if it works on the Legacy. They say it should and by all means the Legacy and Outback should be the same.

Would this work on the Legacy too?

  15. I recently purchased a 2020 Legacy Limited 2.5i. Now I think I want to add a spoiler to it, and I would like to install it myself. If I order the spoiler does it come with the necessary template to tell me where to drill the holes I assume will be needed? Has anyone installed one of these that can tell me if this is a reasonable project for a capable DIYer?

    Thanks!

I got the spoiler on mine and here is a picture of it.

  16. Just read a long term review of 2019 Ascent on MT. One of their criticisms was that there was no reminder within the vehicle that routine maintenance was due.

    Very surprised about this.

Do we have this issue too? I appreciate the reminders. Iirc the interval is 6k miles...

My 2020 Legacy Limit came to its 6,000 mile service and the screen would remind me about 800 miles out that my service is do.

The 2019 Assent was not update to the 2020 software.
