  1. I have winter tires on original rims (97 GT) swapped onto my car recently. The shop said the ABS light came on after a test drive (I was having an inspection done same time so they drove the car) and to see if it comes on again in the future. So I drove it around town and it was fine. Few days later it came on and then went away after restarting the car. Seem intermittent at this point. Only changes recently was the wheel swap, many rainy days and driving over some potholes on my way to the beach. Also worth noting I was told I gotta replace a front-left axle shaft, and all four struts as well I got a slight leak in the steering rack. I guess I should get an OBD-II scanner and check for codes but I am wondering if there is a common issue that might throw up an intermittent ABS light I can quickly check.
  2. Pretty sure it's the flange but I don't see them sold separately. I did find a few filler necks that are not that expensive. Anyone know the labour time to replace?
  3. Right at the inlet I have rust all around. Is there a coating I can do or do I have to replace the spout entirely? Just want to avoid any more rust particles potentially getting into the gas tank.
  4. So my 1997 GT needs some work done and I was told I'd need the following: Front struts Rear shocks (?) Front left axle boot Steering rack with tie rods The front struts I found KYB on Rockauto. Rear shocks not having much luck, am I actually looking for struts? Axle boot...Am I actually looking for a CV Boot? Steering rack with tie rods I see reconditioned ones but is there not new steering racks sold with tie rods? Also if anyone can recommend brands I'd appreciate it.
  5. Hi thanks, I'm familiar with Rev Matching. More a curiosity about upshifting. Was watching a video where I saw someone quick shifting and releasing the clutch really fast, all at high RPM. As I'm interested in quicker upshifts I was curious if or how much high RPMs make a difference.
  6. Does the speed you can release the clutch differ from low RPMs and high RPMs (so let's say 3000 vs 5500) or is it all a matter of what gear or is it both? Thanks.
  7. Greetings. New owner of a 97 2.5GT here with a couple questions. How normal is it to have the RPM float up and down upon a cold start? Rather it seems to do that till the engine is fully warmed up and then it flattens out at around 700-800 RPM. I'm thinking it normal but I don't know at what point I should be concerned about it. I assume if I have the A/C on shortly after starting the car that has an effect on the idle as well, correct? Also the gearing seems a bit strange in that 1st and second gear seem very tall (if I'm using the expression "tall" correctly) which means at times when approaching a tight city corner in second gear the RPMs can drop too low for 2nd gear and the engine kinda chugs along uncomfortably accelerating out of the corner till the RPMs get back up. It's almost like the car would rather go back into 1st gear. Perhaps I just need to work the clutch and accelerator more but I'm curious if this is the nature of the car or if it needs and adjustment. Thanks for the input.
