  1. In the rear: open the trunk, then there is 2 Philips head screws on the side of the housings to take out then the taillights come out and you can change the bulb. Same principle as a Chevrolet pickup.

On the front: if you have small hands you can reach in and twist to get the bulbs out. Passenger side you could take the airbox lid off to get more room. Drivers side might have to loosen the battery, it all depends.

  2. You can turn the lane keeping function down gradually from full on to off but then it shows an annoying orange light on the dash.

I have it turned down so it just beeps very quietly and nothing else, also turned off the blinking "heads up display" yellow lights.

There is another 2 steps in between I believe, I'll take a pic of all the functions for you.

  3. My windshield glass spontaneously cracked just above the Driver's side Eyesight Camera while I was sitting in my driveway the other day. Over the course of several days, it has continued to spread, seemingly in random directions. One of the cracks now partially obstructs the line of sight of the Driver's side camera.

This is a leased vehicle. Pardon my ignorance, as I'm young and never had to do anything like this, but what steps do I take to invoke some kind of warranty? I'm positive that it was not caused by any rocks or debris as I was idling at 0 MPH. Do I start with a dealer, do I call Subaru, or do I call my insurance company?

    Thanks!

From what I've read you usually start with the dealer and if they are not being helpful then you contact Subaru directly. That usually gets the ball rolling.

There are quite a few that got the windshield replaced at no cost.

  4. Hi All,

I installed an Anderson 1.5" lift kit on my 2021 Touring XT. I had this on my 2017 Legacy and loved it.

This time, with the 2021, I want to put larger tires on.

Does anyone know if 17" rims will clear the calipers?

With 17" rims, does anyone have an idea on the largest tire I can go with? I would be willing to do a small spacer also, but nothing to crazy where the tire sticks out too far.

    Thanks

    Rod

Any pictures of the car lifted?

I would assume you can run all the wheel and tire combinations that the Outback guys are running since it's essentially the same thing once lifted. There is a thread about aftermarket wheels and tires on SubaruOutback.org

I ran the 225/55-17 in the winter with more aggressive/ chunky Firestone Winterforce tires, looks pretty cool.

  5. Hovering around 27mpg / 8.7 litres lifetime right now with the turbo and 13000 ish km on it. The colder temperatures recently sure don't help, worst tank so far was 10.7 litres/ 100km or 22mpg but that was -30 Celsius.

With summer tires and warmer weather it should pop back to the 7 litres range again.

  6. Meh, from all the complaints I only ever had the equalizer settings not retain but since 380 it just works. And the crappy windshield that cracks when a tiny pebble hits it.

Coming from other car makes, Subaru people seem to be very whiney or just in love especially on the forums, not sure what that's all about... lots of crying going on at SubaruOutback.org lol.

  7. And like that, my hopes for a Legacy "S" model gets slimmer and slimmer. A Legacy S402 anyone?(or would it be called S403?) I would have settled for a Tuned by STI Legacy.
Totally, would of been nice if they gave the turbo models some actual sportier bits vs the 2.5. Flat bottom steering wheel, little bit firmer suspension, may I even say launch control for the fun of it haha. And traction, stability control that you can fully turn off...

  8. First post on the forum, recently purchased a 2020 Legacy back in March 2020, traded in my 09 Legacy after 5 years. No plans for modifying, just did some tint and an Auto Stop Eliminator.

Overall 12k miles in I’m happy with the car. The technology is very impressive, although it can be a bit annoying at times, it does make for safer driving which is the intent.

Nice, what trim level is yours? Did you black out the fog light bezel or did it come like that?

My limited GT has chrome around it, a bit too much chrome for my liking, might have to dip or wrap some of those strips.

  9. 1 year and 12k miles in I’ve noticed a few things as well:

    1. Anyone noticed that the traction control (vehicle dynamics control) still seems to kick in, even when it is turned off, when you start to lose traction?

    2. Since day one every time I wash the car the drivers side taillight gets condensation in it. The service manager at the dealer didn’t seem to think this would be covered by the warranty, and they couldn’t find a crack.. not sure how thoroughly they looked though. I plan to remove it and take a look for myself once winter passes.

    3. The infotainment system is still a little buggy even with the latest update. I’m sure this will get better with time/development.

I came to expect these little issues with the car being that it is the first year of a new generation with a big redesign. Overall very happy with the car so far.

Kind of annoying that the traction control is still kind off on, yes. I have managed some snow drifts but it always interferes after a bit. Works the best on ice where it's overpowered haha.

From my research, you have to pull a relay in the engine bay to disable the whole system. It results in your dash being lit up like a Xmas tree but you can drift.

I haven't noticed any condensation in my lights but on my sister in law's brand new Honda CRV it has condensation like yours. Usually it's not from cracks but from the lens sealant letting in some moisture. You can also check if all the bulb holders sit flush and completely locked.
