  1. It seems most of this revolves around sti based swaps. If one is losing a rear diff and knows where an entire spec b drivetrain is available, is it reasonable to expect it to be a relatively straight forward retrofit? Apologies if I failed to google thoroughly enough. 2006 spec b sedan to 2005 gt wagon.

2006 Spec B is the same 5MT that is in the 2005-2009 Legacy GT, so no 6MT upgrade path that way.

You need a 2007-2009 Spec B IOT take advantage of their Spec B "6MT" drivetrain. I swapped in a full 08 Spec B drivetrain on my 05 Legacy GT Wagon. Perfect fit, looks like factory.

If you're just replacing the 5MT in your wagon with the 5MT in the 06Spec B it's just one for the other.

  2. Thoughts???

    Ideas???

    Help me keep Renae alive!!

Lightly spray some carb cleaner around your intake manifold gasket areas at the base of your IM, while your engine is idling. At that mileage, you could have old, failing seals, and if so, you'll notice an immediate change in engine idle RPM, and misfires if not replaced.

Recommend the other thing you do, is to do a Sea Foam cleaning of your intake manifold and your valves. Also, check and clean your throttle body plate.

When was the last valve lash adjustment on this? At 198K, you should be planning your second TB change at 210K. I do a VLA each timing belt replacement interval, which is which is typically 105K unless severe driving conditions, or non-California specifications.

  3. It is the single walled, dual tips that look awful IMO.

My dual walled Stromung tips filled the cut-outs and looked fantastic.

Stromung dual walled/resonated tips are amazing.

I'm pretty torn on the Stromung look vs the HKS Silent Hi-Power, I really like them both. But the Stromung wins hands down on the sound, so that's what I'm running.

And they look even better with the 08+ USDM or any of the Rev A-E JDM rear bumpers
