  1. That's just sad. Yeah, I gotta admit there's a wide range of skill levels of the techs in the dealerships. Thankfully I feel like the ones at the dealership closest to me are pretty competent.
  2. I still plan to get mine changed every 50k miles considering a fluid change even at the dealership is something like 5% of the cost to replace the CVT. Perhaps it's not necessary, but if I didn't get it changed ever and the CVT broke, I'd be kicking myself thinking that was probably a big reason for the failure.
  3. I had this exact thing with my 2009 Altima. I was told it was the brake booster. I never got it fixed and traded it in eventually with the problem. Because the car had to sit for hours before experiencing it, I don't think the dealership knew about the issue
  4. Yep, this is why it's most concerning. Not because it's the most likely thing to go, but because if it does go, it'll cost so much to replace. My spirited driving habits also probably won't help its lifespan.
  5. You're right, I was in a rush. Edited my post. That said, the CVT is the biggest reliability concern for me.
  6. Your CVT should be covered up to 100k miles which is most of this extended warranty. I'd say it's not worth it. They sell these warranties to make more money, not to be nice.
  7. That's true. However, it's even better if you don't need to go to a dealer to get issues fixed at all whether it's covered under the warranty or not.
  8. If you look at https://www.carcomplaints.com/Subaru/Legacy/, there was a big spike in complaints for 2015 Legacy's compared to 2014. That's what I'd be afraid of for the 2020.
  9. I'm in the "don't get the first year of any new generation of car" boat for reliability concerns, but if you don't keep cars very long, that's probably not a big concern for you. I think for the 6th Generation, you'd probably be best to look at an aftermarket system for controlling your car with your phone. I don't think if we have enough info on the 2020 to know if it'll have capabilities like that from the factory.
  10. I was just walking to my car yesterday evening and thought this was a nice looking setting for my car.
  11. I installed a 20mm rear sway bar along with Moog end links (K750486) yesterday. The hardest part was maneuvering the old sway bar and end links out from under the car - I think the dual exhaust on the 3.6R adds a bit of difficulty to this. I love the new feel around corners. I'm glad I came to my senses and made this happen finally. Here are what stock end links look like after 3 years in Wisconsin.
  12. I use Armor All leather care gel on my seats probably about 4 times a year. The seats are oddly slippery for the next couple of days, but I haven't really noticed any signs of wear on my seats so maybe it's helping. It's my first car with leather seats so I'm no expert, but I figured I should be using something like that.
  13. ^This is what I remember doing when I replaced my map lights.
  14. I finished paying off the loan for my 2016 so I decided to use the extra money that normally was put towards the car to get my windows tinted (the many windows of the car let in a lot of heat!). I got a Rayno S5 film; 50% fronts and 35% rear windows which are the limits for Wisconsin law (although I'm probably a bit in violation due to factory glass tint).
  15. By time it's time for me to replace my 2016 Legacy, everything will be different (planning to keep it for something like 7 more years). If my Legacy was totaled today, I'd probably look at an Acura TLX AWD.
  16. I'm not sure I understand your post 100%, but maybe there's some confusion for you with the door handle itself. You unlock the door by placing your hand behind the handle. You lock the door by touching the 3 lines at the front of the handle. Were you getting the alarm to go off by touching the 3 lines when your car is remote started?
  17. Same for me except I tend to lock the car with the lock button on the inside of the door just before I get out of the car. No issues with my OEM remote start (besides the annoyance that you need to restart the car after getting back in, but that is expected).
  18. I know the doors do need to be locked (and closed to remote start). I did not know if it sets off any kind of alarm if you try to start it when it's not locked.
  19. I'm impressed even with the OEM tires on my 2016 3.6R, but this is my first AWD car.
  20. I got the red LED strip which is probably the dimmest color strip you can get, but it still gives off plenty of light. I'm guessing the others are very bright.
  21. If anyone else is looking to upgrade more of their lights, Diode Dynamics has a BLACKFRIDAY coupon code to save 20% on your order. I got a trunk strip LED light from them in the Spring, and I put in an order to finish replacing my interior lights!
