^im gonna try to pump those number up to 300 somehow...maybe with the help of harman...
Does that mean you're coming back to us?

I figured he'd been here. See, now that's what I needed to hear, err, read, hehe! I just dunno why some of these clutches are crap, even when the car is treated right. Mmmm, yeah that's niiiice.
LOL, that's funny! Yeah if it was during the day I was home for lunch.
Cool, my brother lives off Bouquet up there too, condos on Susan Beth. Don't worry, I wont be buggin' ya for help doin' the turn signal clearing or the dome light mods! Been there & done that w/ my SE-R. I just wanna get this clucth in & maybe start w/ the catback & ecu. I just emailed Yim today, and will be calling tomorrow to schedule an appt.
Sorry, but the Tribeca has a face only a mother could love!
Your brother is right across the street from me. I'm on the other side of Bouquet in the houses off Susan Beth.
And quit hatin' on my wife's car It ain't the prettiest thing on the road, but it's a nice car and I think ours looks pretty good sitting on dubs:

Probably, I always say "hi" or honk to fellow Subie pilots. Looks kinda weird when I do it in my mom's (RIP) ol' G20 though.
Guilty your honor, that's mine, 18" RPM2s (pita to clean btw), debadged, looks like the forum banner car minus the wing & wiper Bought last April from a real nice guy (hmmm, maybe too nice? ) named Michael S. off the 14 fwy/sierra hwy, so you know him? How?
Yeah I have it here, but for some reason I thought theflywheel had the replaceable surface. Guess I'm used to my NISMO FW in the track slut, R&R the pad for $50 & you're good to go. Oh yes Paul Y. will do it alright, just gotta get a date from him. Can you purt in a good word? Not driving down to Torrance, no way, I meant taking it into the $tealer before getting it fixed just for shits & giggles. Then I'm thinkin', "why?", I just don't wanna go thru the hassle of bitching until I'm blue in the face, only to have them say "sorry, not warranty work".
Maybe I'm just getting older & don't wanna deal w/ the bs anymore <shrug>. Like I said I love the car, aside from a few nitpicks here & there. Like why they couldn't make both front windows auto up/down? I digress...
Let me know when you wanna meet up sometime Paul, love to get to know the local guys. If you know the town well, we're in the Old Orchard I tract, & you? ttys
I know Michael (your car's former owner) from this forum. He's a good guy and he treated your car well. He's got a BMW 335 now... the lucky bastage!
I actually know exactly where you live. I used to work for a home delivery company, so I drove all over town in my work truck. Saw your car parked in the driveway and knew it had to be Michael's old car. I'm over in Saugus, off Bouquet Canyon, just past Haskell Canyon.
As for the clutch install at Yimi, there's always about a 50/50 chance I'll be there hanging out. If I am, I'll be sure to lend a hand.
-
BTW, since you have the clutch now, either have Harman Motive do the install (their primary tech Adan is a Subaru Master Technician and VERY good at what he does) or if you don't want to schlep it down to Torrance, bring it over to Yimi.
-
No Problem Paul, nice to meet ya, err, I guess..?? Oh um, I was actually j/k on the clutch thing, hehe I hear ya, about the only things I ever did on my track slut were hand-tool stuff. Yes, I've been in touch w/ Paul Yim actually before I signed up here to post, sounds very knowledgable & friendly. I just got the ACT kit from Ian @ Harman, another very cool hombre. Now if I can just get the car over to Yim via AAA...
I'm still debating wether or not to have it fixed before goin' to the Subie $tealer & see what they say about the clutch. Or not... Hell I just want the car back, it's a 3200 lb. paperweight collecting dust right now, come by & see for yourself, I'm over by the XMAS tree farm!
I've seen you car before. In fact I'm willing to bet you bought it used from someone I know. Do you have Enkei wheels?
-
I'm not doing as many installs now. I prefer doing suspension work and tend to shy away from heavier duty stuff like clutch installs that are much easier with a lift. I'm sending a lot of work over to my buddy Paul Yim who owns Yimi Sport Tuning in town (Santa Clarita). He's a great guy and all his work is quality and reasonably priced.
-
Pm Jsalicru. He is a member of this forum who does installs on the side. Good guy and he does good work. I believe he is in the Temecula/Murrieta area.
-
Ya, add Yimi Sport Tuning in Santa Clarita. Paul Yim is the most honest mechanic I have ever met. His labor rates are more than fair and they truly care about their customers. Paul is a friend, but I knew right after meeting and talking to him that he is a super straight shooter.

I've been using Final Charge Global. It is made by Old World Industries which also owns the Peak brand name. Final Charge Global is another 100% phosphate and silicate free coolant. It is very likely the exact same formula as Peak Global. I just used it because I found it more easily than Peak Global. Wallyworld and Pep Boys both carry Final Charge Global.
With regard to the Subaru coolant additive, it looks to me to be nothing more than small expensive bottle of Bar's Leaks. I think Subaru started specing its use when some of the early 2.5L motors had weepy head gaskets.

My garage for shadetree installs!
-
Nice Jose. So you're trying to say I don't just torque everything till the bolts snap off... huh... who knew?!?!?
Edited for typos that made my post just about incomprehensible
-
So you discovered that the rear lower bolts are a bitsssshhh I could have told you that! Still, I've done quite a few spring and coilovers installs and I usually only fight then for 30-40 minutes or so. I can always pop them loose with a 24" breaker bar, and I'm only 165lbs. Just a lot of grunting involved.
If I wasn't so cheap I'd get a better air impact gun and just spin those lower nuts like nothing. The rest of the job is only about a 1 hour affair with a bit of practice.
-
I'm probably cheaper than the next guy, but I cannot believe that people are falling all over themselves about how great AN EXHAUST LEAK SOUNDS! If you look up ricer in the dictionary, intentional exhaust leaks have to be right up there with cut springs and 3 foot tall aluminum wings...

High flow random tech metalic cat is over $200.
You really do like to spend too much money, don't cha? With Random you are buying the name. There are a plethora of other metallic substrate cats on the market that are priced much better and are functionally identical.
With regards to the other questions, the debate of whether a divorced DP or bellmouth DP is better is an old one, in which no one has ever really proven any substantive differences. IMHO, in sum they are equivilent.
As to customizing. No. This is a production piece, not a one-off. I've told Megan Racing what I believe the vast majority of LGT owners would want in an exhaust and that's what they are building. With homogeneous production comes lower costs. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
The MR system is 100% 304 stainless and 100% mandrel bent, fully 3" throughout till the y-pipe when it splits to 2.5" pipes. Ground clearance is very good. My car is lowered and I did not scrape the bottom of the car with the stock catback, and I still do not scrape anything with the MR exhaust. BTW, even though I live in Sunny SoCal now, I grew up in Toronto, so I know about winters.
In the end, I think people will buy what they like best. While I think the MR parts are the best value on the market, I can't get on people for buying other more expensive brands because they want to. Some people find value in a $300 pair of jeans, when you can get jeans from a lesser brand for $30. Is one 10x better than the other? No, but if there is something about them that you find worthwhile, then go right ahead. Same goes for car parts.

$1000 for a TBE?
3 inch divorced waste-gate?
3 inch donut for proper flex but no restriction at the DP flange?
with 3 inch high-flow metalic cat?
with resonator?
dual mufflers
all T304 Tigg welded
DP TIGG welded inside and out?
hangers and flanges T304?
If that is the case I am in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FWIW I asked my welder about those specs and he says the raw material alone is worth about $1000, plus you need a welder, etc..........
Prove me wrong, please prove me wrong!
MRSP will likely be around $1000, with a street price a couple hundred lower. Yes to everything on your list except the cat, and the donut gasket. I believe the DP will have a flex section instead of a donut gasket to give it some flex, but allow better fitment with other aftermarket catbacks, if one so chooses. They are still deciding between going with a bellmouth or divorced on the DP, but both designs work equally well. If you want a cat, take all the money you saved and buy any of the metallic substrate cats out there for $150 and have it welded in for $50. Voila, catted TBE for $1000.
-
+1 that is why I will spend 2 grand on iONS upcoming TBE.
Or you could spend way less than half that and get the upcoming Megan Racing TBE

Ding! Ding! Ding!
That is exactly right - if I would have shown what I did, it would have been dismissed as "stupid". But after everyone liked the sound - it was shown that you don't have to spend $800 to have a good sounding exhaust!
Also - to the people who say their cat-backs are so much better - well, I'll dry my tears with the huge wad of cash left in my pocket.
And here I was thinking the whole point of an aftermarket exhaust was to gain power... silly me... We all just need to leave our mufflers loose to gain some noise! That's what it's really all about!
For me, a little more noise is fine, but if I could get an exhaust that was silent but made appreciably more power than stock, I'd be all over it.

That's what I was thinking. Did that in my cousin's 325is 11-12 years ago. We thought is was cool then, but then again we were 18 or 19 years old . There is no way any kind of real catback will sell for $200. Muffler deletes or something like it... maybe... a real catback... no way.
So what do I and Meier Motor Sports get for being right? I'm sorry, but the second I saw that this thread was started by our beloved Hogboy, I knew it was going to be something stupid... Sorry...
-
+ for something stupid.
i bet its jsut putting a spacer in the flange. i did it once and it sounded like that. sounds good, looks stupid. and not worth a post claming a cat back. sorry hoggers not yet impressed

There are pics of these wheels on my car, as well as on other people's cars all over this site. They are clearly "inspired by" the Volk CE28's, and I believe that they are available in bronze, but only in 17" and 18". Here are a couple links to my pics, but you will easily find others as well.

Here is one photoshopped, I copied Boostjunkies rims and put them on my car I love the look, so one day I will get these as well.
Well, since we now have a photoshop of my wheels on another car, I guess I'll toss the OG version in BTW, nice car there Legacy05, although the wheels are a little bigger than in the photochop.
