  1. If this helps at all- I have a 17. I notice that consistantly if not light on the throttle from a dead stop, the car does seem to take off quick. Never slow, but quick enough to move my head back and I notice it. I have to very gently apply throttle to totally eliminate this phenomena.

Also, I have noticed in the mountains when backing, this sucker will roll a long way if you let it. Even in "D". Typically if you shift into D, my previous cars want to move forward. I get the impression on a grade, my car will roll backwards till I hit the brake and then accelerate. As I am aware of that now, I am more careful on steep grades. Brake> full stop>shift>gas.

  2. SL does these everyday- 100's if not thousands have been completed. The techs are trained to recal and I'm sure do every bit as good a job as the kid at the dealership. The chance they will "screw it up and not pay for it" is pretty low I'm thinking.

Even the dealer remarked "don't get your windshield done here it will be a fortune, go through insurance or Safelite" (He also said he would be happy to recal it for 240.00 and two hours of my time)

I think I'll be ok. Worst case if I get in an accident and want to blame it on Eyesight and sue SOA, I can't.

  3. The new battery that you'll receive, is much better.

yeah- Maybe I'll have another "issue" lol. NAPA is right down the road if it tests 100% or very good I'll let it be.

    The windshield seems pretty painless:

Thank you for contacting Safeco Insurance with services provided by Safelite Solutions. Your appointment has been scheduled and confirmed with Safelite AutoGlass to replace the windshield on your 2017 SUBARU LEGACY. Your technician will recalibrate your ADAS camera after installation.

    Deductible $0.00

  4. Where was the crack in your windshield? Near the deicer lines?

I know for my ‘15 model they replaced it free (no eyesight).

I bought a can of r134a today. Even though the gauge said my system was full, I have noticed weak cooling for three weeks now. I thought it was just because I was in NC for vacation and it was warmer. So I added some refrigerant and overcharged my system (obviously). So I remedied that real quick. Now my a/c is nice and cold again. Who knows. It was probably something else but the can only cost me $6.

It was from the far passenger side and last look, about 18in across headed towards me. Dealer said he could replace it if it was an Outback. The Legacy for 2017 was not included. I'll call insurance today. Probably use Safelite. See how things work after replacement and/or if insurance pays for re-cal.

  5. Did you charge your battery?

No. Jumped it , let it run 5 and watched fireworks. Started fine and then drove home (15mi). Drove about 30mi yesterday. May stop at NAPA and have it tested. I'm sure I did not help it any. It looks like a cheap old tech water filled pos but it has been working fine. Dealer said he would replace it if any more issues. He said the OEM batteries he has have more juice/power. I chatted with him about the battery while he looked at the windshield. If I have issues I'll ask for replacement. Or I'll put a real battery in there.

  6. I went to leave after fireworks and my battery was dead. Jumped it and today no issues except when I went out this morning I noticed my windshield is cracked. Dealer wants nothing to do with it but does want 240.00 to re-cal eyesight. I have seen a bunch of related threads so I'll hunt them down. Not one issue in 16 months/12K and Bang! Oh well, have not called insurance yet. Not up to it.
  7. I think your logic is sound. However once you "mod" the car you are on your own. Suspension, ECU, LEDs whatever, you have veered from the basic engineering design / principles of the car and therefore left that support mechanism behind. Now maybe another dealer with more experience in this area or just very customer centric may try and help rectify the situation, but it does not surprise me at all that once they realized you altered the suspension and you had an alignment problem, they backed off. If you truly believe that springs/ lowering is not hurting the car/tires (something happened to cause that bad of an alignment issue) , buy a new set of tires and move on.
  8. Got to try the voice command stuff today! I use Sirius, have a disk in at all times and about 500 songs on USB. I manually go through the USB folder which can be distracting. I am definitely going to try genre and artist and see what happens. Lots of blues and rock. I won't be saying "play Beatles". lol but to each his own. If it responds to "play SRV" or "play The King" it would be a hoot.
  9. Those are great prices. I have not looked into this as I don't keep cars that long. However I did keep my Toyota for 4+ years and this car is growing on me. I may call dealer and/or look on line first but sounds like:

    1. I'm still eligible 1 year in?. I assume you can buy anytime while still under warranty

    2. Warranty is transferable to private owner but won't help you on a trade

    3. You can call or cancel anytime and get a portion of your money back if no claim has been paid

    5. This is a Subie based warranty so no issues at dealer...

  10. This is my first CVT but is feels much like any other auto I have had. I can "hold on" using the paddles or if you hit it, you'll head up the RPM line and I have hit 6K once just for grins. I was skeptical till I drove it. Typical driving it does seem to just hang out at 1800-2K. Also in my car at least, the throttle is touchy from stop. Tends to shoot forward a bit quick if you are not light on the pedal. I was also concerned with reliability but this came with 7yr/100K which is longer than I'll have the car. So overall, a good experience. I guess next test will be winter ice and snow.
  11. Luckily we don't have that here in the US.

Agreed! I had no idea what he was talking about till you replied and I looked it up. Not good reviews either.... Reminds me when I drove a Prius once. I can't imagine that happening at every light... I will not complain about lane assist again..
