It was a good time. Glad I was able to make it down there!
-
I am coming for sure. It sounds like my buddy is also in. See you guys around 2.
-
the MDX cutoffs look great! I'll have to keep that in mind if I open up my housings again in the future.
-
So do the MDXs drop in just like the RX330s? Are you guys using 07+ projectors? Getting any color out of these projectors?
I have only done the MDX projectors, so I don't know if it was exactly like the RX330s, but it sure seemed like they were. As far as the year goes, I can not remember exactly, I seem to recall my projectors being 06 or 07. I'll see if I can find the packing slip when I get home. I played around with the color mod, but I did not like it so much, I really prefer the cutoff line being sharp.

Which BWW is this meet happening at? I have some tentative plans for Saturday, but I may be able to swing by.
-
Depending on time/location, I might be able to make a Saturday meet up.

try the harness first as isolating the system from the stock wiring will ensure it gets the required voltage.
That seems to have done the trick. Once I got the harness installed, both lights fired each time I tried. Several tests were done, including turning over the engine when the lights were on.
sorry i'm late finse, i could have told you tons -- i've been running the whole mdx d2s optics for about a year now. i'll keep an eye out here if you have any further q'sNo worries underpowerd, luckily for me the retro with the mdx d2s optics went very smoothly.

I did pop off the horizontal aiming caps, I guess I should have spent a wee bit more time getting it right. I am going to have to pull one of my housings a re-bake it, as I have found some condensation. I will hopefully have this done by next weekend, and I will re-aim them.
I have also found one other issue. I had an xtec h7 kit in my other housings for 3 years. They were bullet proof, however now that I have switched over to the D2S bulbs (same xtec ballasts), I am having the dreaded one or both headlights not coming on issue. I am going to order the battery/relay harness today and will be considering replacing my battery as well.

Vin #423bl676366206030
did the 06 specb's had sequential vin numbers?

^be very careful with the squirrel finders...because the piece of metal is thin, it can be damaged and pretty easily and while it may look normal to the eye any little movement can mess with your cutoff, i used putty that gets hard...not sure of actual name got it at autozone
Thanks for the heads up. Luckily the oxidation came off really easy. I found another thread where MiniStiGuy recommended quick steel. I will head out to pick up a tube soon.
-
My retro has begun! So far everything is going just like MiniStiGuy's walk through. I had to sand off the three nubs off the MDX buckets. After that the legacy shield fits just perfectly.
It does look like I need to do some work on the Legacy shields though. I have found oxidation on the cutoff line, and it results in the cut off looking very bumpy. With the lens off, I am unable to tell the difference between the LGT and MDX lens. However they both appear to be pretty clear.
Any recommendations on the squirrel finders? What materials did you guys use to seal yours up? How hot do you think the cut off shields get during operation?
-
Thanks for being the guinea pig!
Well, the projectors arrived today. Comparing the MDX projector assembly to the pics of the RX330 projectors on the first page, they look exactly the same. of course I am going to have to disassemble the housings to find out for sure. One notable difference, the lens appears to be clear (perhaps they are similar to the TSX lenses?). It's definitely not golf ball like in appearance. I am sure I will get a better idea when everything comes apart this weekend.
All that said, what do you Retro OG's think about lenses? The headlights the projectors are going into are from an 07 LGT. If memory serves me correctly, the LGT projectors will not be perfectly clear. Will it be better to go with the LGT lens, or the MDX lens?
-
I got a pretty good deal on the MDX D2S projectors. So I pulled the trigger. They are apparently fairly similar to the RX330 non asf projectors, but I guess I will find out.. I will post pictures and I am sure many questions when the arrive!
-
Any idea on what model years the RX330 was equipped with non asf projectors?
-
So, after having read this thread twice... I am becoming a bit intimidated on starting my retro project. It seems, for a retro newb, the non asf rx330 projectors would be the best way to go. However, I can not seem to find them anywhere. I have found tsx & mdx projectors.
So retro OG's, what do you think? Is the MDX D2S projector a close fit, what about the TSX? Am I just better trying to be patient and wait on the RX330 non asf projectors?

Hey guys! I am now the proud owner of Spec B #104/500. I purchased her for $18,800 with a total of 9466 miles on the odometer! IT WAS A STEAL! The entire car is immaculate! I'll post pictures after I wash her.
That's a great deal. Congratulations!

ean611, thanks for the quick reply. I also noticed the wheels on the car. I wonder what happened to the stockers...
VtspecB, I think your right. 8 months and still on the lot. Either the dealer thinks way to highly of the car, or nobody in mass is interested.. I guess we will see.
Cheers,
Ryan

I saw number 412 at Village Subaru in Acton this morning. (for sale obviously)
It has 58k on the clock. Also, has aftermarket wheels with Blizzaks on them.
The engine compartment was weird, either the previous owner was a neat freak (dealer said he owned a car wash), or the dealer did an insane job in there. It looked factory clean.
ean611, I know its been ages since you saw this car. But my buddy is thinking about picking it up. Can you elaborate on what you meant by the engine compartment being weird?
Thanks!
