  1. my OEM Remote Start is 10 years old and it functions perfectly...

as to needing the doors locked, nope, it takes are of it but if the trunk/hatch or hood is open no go... car will not start.

I'm sure it does but it's an apples to oranges comparison. Your remote start isn't the same one installed in the OPs car most likely and definitely isn't the same TWO I had installed in my own 2016. My experience is detailed elsewhere but in a nutshell, my dealer installed an OEM plug and play Subaru remote starter in my car before I took delivery. It soon failed to work properly. Warranty replaced it. That one soon began malfunctioning. SOA bought it back from me and I removed it myself. A contact at SIA flat out said the current (at that time) remote starter was junk, to remove it and go aftermarket.

    So I did.

  2. All doors also must be locked and shut including the trunk. Not sure what else may cause issues.
The OEM remote start will lock the doors, this is not a prerequisite for operation of the starter.

OP, if your remote starter is the Subaru unit, it's a POS and needs to be replaced with something that works. There are many threads here about these, even one of my own.

  3. Hi Shooter, just to let you and ammcinnis know that here in Australia in the Japanese made Legacy's (Liberty here) "Upper Engine Cleaner (part #SA459) is in our factory supplied Maintenance Schedule ( I am looking at it as I type this) and is "performed" at every scheduled service. Just as an added note, Fuel Additive (part #SA718) is also "performed" at every scheduled service as well.
    Interesting, thanks.

  4. Ordered my 2020 Forester Sport in white with Option Package 24. I was never in love with my Legacy, although it’s a nice car for sure. It was a garage queen, as I was afraid it’d get scratched or worse. Elated to be going back to the Forester, where there’s more room, a higher seating position and more ruggedness. Road trips here we come!
Nice to see you back with Subaru. I hope this one treats you better than the Legacy.

  5. The '20 OB XT's clumsy Stop/Start feature is something I could do without. ..

Having lived with the new OB for about 10 days, turning OFF the feature is required each time the vehicle is started. It's akin to a pre-flight checklist.

There's a workaround whereby invoking/setting of the incline feature,, will negate the operation of the Stop/Start function. I'll give this a try and advise.

I will be paying attention to this and hope it works. I know someone somewhere will come up with a work around, this would be a nice fix.

  6. Took a look around my local dealer while service had my car this week. Only one XT and no Touring on the lot.

Was disappointed to learn the Touring only comes with that uglyassed orange leather, have to drop to Limited to get different color.

And still not thrilled about start/stop. Salesman said the govt is mandating its use so all cars will have it. News to me.

I may have bought my last Lecacy already.

  7.

Beamer .. what a surprise that you have come out in support of the OP [emoji38]

I think the OP's statement "that these things are DANGEROUS on the highway" deserved ridicule, as have some of your previous statements .. not all, but definitately some. (Just for one example, when you complained about poor vehicle tracking but admitted that you had mismatched tires fitted?????)

I have no problem with you and anyone else expressing an opinion on the road holding capabilities of these vehicles, and then suggesting mods that might give them their preferred ride .... but to make a blanket statement that "these things" ... (meaning thereby ALL these cars) are "dangerous on the highway" is in my opinion, without evidence and baseless.

That is not to say that you haven't had problems with your car ... and I have previously said that if what you are saying is genuine, then you must have a real lemon, and like many other forum members, I can't believe why you have not ditched the car. But your individual unfortunate experience does not justify you, or the OP, to categorically state that "these things are dangerous on the highway" ..... there might well be other vehicles that perform better on the highway ( I don't know for a fact if that is true or not, but let's assume it is) ... but to label ALL these Subaru models as DANGEROUS, is with respect, stupid.

    Agree with all of this.

And I've driven my 2016 3.6 at the ridiculous driver's license losing speed of 115, on a highway, and never once felt in danger or close to losing the car. That kind of talk is simply over exaggeration and rightfully so called out.
