  1. Off topic, but I have a question for my fellow Ohioans: Anyone ever get pulled over/ticketed for having JDM tail lights and/or cleared headlights? Inspection issues?

Reason I ask is I just installed the JDM rev d-f tails (look AMAZING) and, even though I knew they didn't have the use of the third bulb, it wasn't till I tested them I realized I'd be invisible from the rear at night (dummy me). I'd planned on clearing the headlights soon but now I'm hesitant to have too many ticks against me if a cop pulls me over and knows what he's looking at. I'm also concerned about the safety of others driving at night. I guess it's just the risk you take and something always in the back of your head? Also gotta think about the upcoming inspection this summer.

  2. '05 with 137k. All stock/original motor and drive train. Owned since 12/15 with 123k.

Runs strong but has a laundry list of things to attend to this spring: bubbling heater core, right rear bearing needs replaced (both front replaced last summer), brakes need replaced, fuel lines need to be tightened, rear driver side door actuator not working, downpipe heat shield rattle (not a performance issue but annoying AF), typical Subie rust on rear driver side wheel arch, planning on replacing shocks/struts this summer

All-in-all its a great car. Removed the banjo bolt filter last summer and it was clean as a whistle. Change the oil every 3750 miles. Multiple Blackstone reports come back with only some lead in the oil (bearing wear). Need to look into a trans flush (5EAT) and brake fluid as well

  3. F4's is gone and replaced by NEOSOC. LERSOC is the older crowd but you won't find most of those guys on purpose. They tend to keep to themselves off somewhere. Ganley was one of the sponsors, Rob would go grab a new car and park it at the meet where outsiders would see it and possibly test drive it. Don't think they let him get a STi granted Doug had one then. That's when I realised Ohio lets you put collector plates on literally a new car. Same for certain WRB STi's in certain years as it's "Rare enough to have collectors plates and no emissions.

A combination of what looks like everything happened. Gonna be engine block 2 and turbo 3 when finished. Haven't taken the heads apart from the block but have a feeling those may be going too. I got the block cheaper than what online shipped is.

Ohh I see. Think it was anything that could've been prevented? I'm hoping to not have similar "luck" haha.

  4. Welcome to the forums. I'm also in CH-UH but you will most likely spot me in my Cruze. Legacy been down for quite a bit. summer 2016 seems promising.

Same dealer is where I went since the Forced 4's one in Bedford Auto Mile seems to have higher priced OEM parts. I wonder if they still honor F4's member cards or not.

Willoughby keeps sending me "trade in your 2005" and your car shoulod need servicing letters all the time. I may call them one day and see if they want it that bad. One time I was there someone traded in an 05 LGT and the engine took a crap after they took the car in. They just happened to have 2 STi blocks in stock for all the dead 4 gens they see.

Thanks! What's wrong with the Legacy?

I went to the Subaru of Bedford for an allignment after hitting a massive pothole and was pleased with the service. I honestly have never heard of the F4 group before reading up on this thread. I'll have to take a look at that.

Wow that's crazy about the blocks. Think they sell them cheaper than a new short block? I'm anxious to get working on my car once it warms up, namely the cat uppipe and banjo bolt filter.. I'd rather have to hit them up for one of those spares haha.

  5. Hi Zach,

Ours lives near Cedar-Taylor. I generally do the maintenance myself. I received a mailing recently from a shop in Willoughby I think claiming they were Subaru specialists. The prices they advertised were higher than a similar mailing from one of the dealers.

Currently, our wagon is at Cascade in Cuyahoga Falls for the airbag inflator recall. They tell me the entire dash has to come out to change the inflator. Hopefully I'll get it back tomorrow.

Okay thanks for the info. It didn't seem like there were any subie specialists in Cleveland. I want to try to do most of the maintenance i can by myself, but I'm sure I'll find something I can't

  6. Hi all! Name's Zach and I'm new to the forum and subies. Picked up a white '05 LGTW back in December.

I live in Cleveland Heights near Mayfield and Warrensville. Often found around Legacy (hey-oh) shopping center or Coventry/Uptown area. Work in Willoughby as well.

Right off the bat, does anyone have any trusted mechanics or tuners in the area they could recommend? Only lived in the CLE a few years so not too familiar with the area. The car is in great shape, but it would be good to know where others go. Especially since I'll be looking at AP or an open-source tune soon.

Anyway, glad to be a part of the club (if you'll have me) and maybe I'll see some of you around!
