  1. Welcome to the group. Hopefully you enjoy your time with these cars. They can be fun, or a nightmare, or both lol. Unfortunately this group is not very active, but the forum still has good info and people tend to engage when you ask questions after you've already done some research. If you're on Facebook, check out NEOSOC (North Eastern Ohio Subaru Owners Club). It's a good resource for shop suggestions and meet ups but that's pretty much it. Most of the traffic is people taking screenshots of their AP and expecting the group to tell them what's wrong with their car or asking for the millionth time "wIlL tHeSe RiMs FiT??" so it gets annoying.
  2. Been a while since I saw an lgt in the heights, but just saw a black sedan with black wheels in front of Swenson's on Cedar around noon. I was sitting in the parking lot in my wagon
  3. Cross posted, but I recently picked up a contractor table saw. It was actually pretty tricky getting the base to fit, but I wasn't surprised when it did! The guy selling it was though haha
  4. I think I'm just gonna go the wrap route too. probably have enough left over from wrapping my up and dp and still have some ceramic spray paint leftover too. Just staring at the nuts/bolts holding them together.. i dont think they're coming apart cleanly
  5. How has everyone's header heat shields held up? Mine are pretty much shot and I'm installing an up pipe this weekend and I'm less than confident I'll get them off in one piece.. started soaking them with PB blaster tonight in preparation. Maybe I'll just wrap them with some DEI stuff i have leftover, but not sure how that'll hold up in the long run being right next to the road (I took the diaper off a while ago)
  6. Someone asked for snow pics so here are a few. Finally starting to look like spring here so I'll be swapping out the winter wheels this weekend
  7. I do and am in mentor every now and then but live in Cleveland heights. My winter wheels are plastidipped aqua so if that's what you saw, that was me haha. I met a guy last year who also has a swp wagon tho. Not sure if he's on here
  8. They have self serve kiosks now so no visual inspection, just plug in obdII. Passed without mufflers
  9. That makes sense. I was wondering what the threshold would be for making it over boost, but I imagined you'd have to be pushing it hard for the wastegate to be unable to keep up. Thanks for the input. And yeah, that neosoc page drives me nuts. I mostly use it to try to find local shops
  10. It's exactly what you said.. Cobb doesn't recommend using catless dp used with AP because of the risk of over boosting with the stage 2 maps. I hadn't been planning on going catless. I was planning on replacing my rotted dp with a used oem, but I got the invidia for $100 so if I plan to go catted instead, it'll be easy to recoup my money. I don't have any experience with tuning so I'd rather err on the side of caution and listen to the people who at least seem like they know what they're doing. I did talk to a couple guys on here who didn't have issues with the AP/catless so maybe the possibility of over boosting is slim? Straight from the horses mouth: "A catted downpipe would be best. We always recommend using a downpipe with a high flow catalytic converter, not only to help meet emissions standards, but also for performance and safety of the car. In some vehicles we support, using a race or non-catted downpipe can cause boost creep, or uncontrollable boost. This is typically something that tuning can not fix as it is a mechanical issue that can only be resolved with a catted downpipe, porting the wastegate, or by using an EWG with a custom tune. You should keep a close eye on your boost levels to make sure the car hits the proper boost target and tapers towards redline. Kyle@COBB"
  11. Yeah I was just saying I liked the logging features of the AP. I got a good price on a catless invidia dp so the AP is unlikely at this point. I'm leaning more toward getting a tune at TPG.. just need to sort out an oil leak, among other items, to get it ready for the dyno. If I can't, I might get a catted dp instead and go with the AP. Anyone in the area running a catless dp?
  12. Sorry I meant tuning. Do you plug it in and you're good to go? Or do you have to go do pulls like with the dyno? The logging and live feed is why I wanted an AP even if I didn't use it for the tune. I hate not having a boost gauge like my speed3 did haha
  13. Well that's good to know. I would like having the AP even just for the data logging. Maybe I can find one on the cheap. How does the timing work with the AP? Still need to do runs like with the dyno? I needto nail this oil leak I have, just haven't made the time. Maybe when it warms up
  14. Anyone in the area comfortable/experienced with performing etunes? I have to replace my rotted dp and the options are oem or aftermarket and a tune of sorts... Considering the latter but an AP is not the best, depending who you ask, and honestly my car it's not ready for a dyno tune..
  15. Anyone recommend a type of grease to put on the axle teeth when replacing? Is it necessary?
  16. Hmm I don't remember that much but it was just earlier this year around April. He has two bajas along with the wagon. he said the guy spent $15k on the engine build. Not sure where that falls in the price range of engine builds but Gene said he'd get about 400hp outta it. I was under the impression the 5eat couldn't handle that much? Just wrap that up pipe haha. I bought a wrx uppipe recently and cut the heat shields off and wrapped in with the dei stuff. Slowly collecting parts for the spring. hoping to replace the leaky exhaust and finally get a tune
  17. Yeah I do what maintenance I can and am pretty sure I need a new alternator and/or ac idler pulley. may try my hand at it but with the cold weather approaching and my Toyota hogging the garage it's looking less likely each day. Either way I'm kinda wary of that shop now after he quoted such an outrageous amount. I had given him some consistent business and thought he'd take care of me in return but now I just feel like I was another person to be had. Also need to find some place to get an allignment now that im lowered. Probably end up taking it back to Subaru of wickliffe..
  18. depending where you are located, I had some luck with Gene at Subaman in Willoughby. He replaced my rear brake lines and front calipers. Decent prices on his services. Only thing is he quoted me a $4k R&R on all the engine seals because I have oil leaking from somewhere and that was his recommended solution. It made me a like wary that he didn't try to troubleshoot first but he does know his stuff. He told me he was getting a hub dyno installed back in the summer and he was in the process of building an 06 LGT wagon for someone
  19. I just joined neosoc like last week. I was contacted by Erik Kauntz. He said he's the one who handles new members
  20. Keeping mine until the rust takes it... Which may be sooner than later. Just installed konis+hr springs yesterday. I've got a list of things to do and it seems to get longer by the day
  21. Just bought a replacement axle yesterday. Not sure if I missed the distinction or it changed, but the AZ reman axle, 7336, only comes with a 1 yr warranty. The new axle, 7336N, is the one that comes with the lifetime warranty. Soo looks like I'll be swappingng it out next summer?? I'll definitely be keeping my OEM axle and just reboot it as a spare like Max suggests
  22. Keep seeing an RBP NA sedan to and from my way to work in Willoughby. Spotted this morning westbound on the 2 at 750 near Wickliffe. Lowered on some bronze/gold rims with tint and yellow fogs. Looked pretty good
  23. Good tip. My CHL is actually in the mail and I was going to start carrying when I get it.
  24. I'm really hoping it's just user error and I messed something up on the install. I agree, I can't see myself keeping these if they don't having running lights. I have the JDM wire harnesses, just didn't have the patience to swap them as the sun was going down last night. Gonna reach out to some of the guys on here that have them and hopefully they can confirm they should have running lights. I'll just throw the USDM ones back on till then
  25. Yeah that's kinda why I asked. I live in the heart of the heights and can't drive anywhere without passing a handful of cops. I've never been bothered in the year I've had my muffler delete axle back (surprisingly) but I don't want to push my luck too much. I'm planning on getting tint this summer.. May rethink the 20% all around.. Luckily I doubt many cops think twice about my granny wagon being what it is
