  1. My dad lives in Sarasota, definitely nice to visit there that time of year, but a long weekend is enough for me.

I don’t even visit Sarasota. That’s where old people go to die. The only nice thing about the west coast of Florida are the beaches.

SE Florida is where is at but only as far down as Deerfield Beach, south of that is just good for day trips.

You don’t appreciate all Florida has to offer until you live here at least for a year. If you are into summer/water sports hen this is paradise. We don’t get snow so no skiing. And the honeys jogging down A1A make everything so much nicer!

  2. I mean, so do I. If it was a choice between Florida or California, I'd take Cali in a heartbeat.

Still really want to move out to the Rockies someday, though. I really enjoyed my year in Salt Lake City, and I hear life along the Front Range and in some parts of NM is nice.

I get it, is not for everyone. But between CA and FL, I take FL any day of the week!

  3. That's pretty much what I said when I visited friends in SF in 2015.

Like, wow, incredibly beautiful area, and the weather is 70 and sunny for like 3/4 of the year. But damn, there are so many reasons I would not want to live there. Cost, crowding, wildfires, earthquakes, CARB, the smog that made CARB necessary, droughts, mudslides, COVID spikes...

Which is the reverse of Florida. Weather is hot, but for only a few months. After that it’s beautiful and a beautiful state. We do not have mountains or 4 station weather but we do have a lot of good things. I mean we are the penis of the USA. We have to be great!

    No income tax

    No emission testing

    Open container OK

    Beautiful beaches.

Carry as many firearms as you like.

    Oranges.

  4. Just went for a stroll, tires aren't bad at all. For now its fine, sooooo

    Let's talk about tech!

I need something to log heart rate from my watch, track my mileage, cadence, gps etc.

Any leads on a well priced product and an app?

    Strava.com

    The official app for cyclists.

But you also need sensors for cadence. Speed you can get away with the built in GPS.

Honestl yhe watches are not that accurate. I do a HR strap feom Wahoo and have a Wahoo Bolt computer with all the sensors.

  5. I have owned a few bikesdirect bikes and the higher end ones in the 1K range come with some nice bits.

With that said the Gravity line is the entry level.

One word of advice if you outgrow that bike do not think on upgrading anything, just buy something new and sell it. It is not worth upgrading anything because anything that is worth while upgrading will not be compatible with that bike.

The saddles on the cheap bikes are horrendous.

Get some padded shorts, they are a life saver.

Check these places out for accessories:

A lot of the amazon stuff is also good.

Check ebay for stuff as well.

Helmets you need to test fit. They all do not fit the same.

I own 6 bikes. They are all different. I have not been riding a lot recently but most of my weeks have always been around 125+ miles each week with sometimes 250 miles in a week.

Saddle, padded shorts, and good fit are key.

    Enjoy.
