I can't believe how much extra time some people must have to be able put this amount of effort into making hideous cars (either real or 'chopped).

Now that's a very confused vehicle.

I welcomed a new vehicle into the fleet this weekend, replacing the '03 Olds Silhouette rustmobile. The van had many many issues and the slipping transmission finally pushed me over the edge. Replacing it with a 15 year old Miata seemed like a reasonable thing to do, especially considering our 6th child is due in a couple months.

I certainly admire the effort, but what bothers me is that the "spokes" aren't evenly spaced. If it's worth doing faking, it's worth doing faking right.

Results are beautiful when people enjoy what they do. Madrig what's the most fun CF project you've done (doesn't have to be a car part) and can you post a pic? Off-topic and I don't care #becauseCF -

Cylinder 2 misfire questions

Yikes that's a lot of oil. Even without an AOS I've never seen anything close to that in my intake innards. Did you check your PCV yet? Would oil in the combustion chamber cause a misfire, or predetonation (knock)? -
Cylinder 2 misfire questions

Sounds like you're making good progress and I really hope you figure out your misfire, especially because it sounds like youre car might be a close relative to mine. I don't have a ton of extra time to contribute very much advise but I'll keep checking back to see your progress. Explore every option before deciding to tear into your motor, because your problem might not be that deep. Read through my rebuild thread and you'll why I say that. -
People with money do cool things sometimes. The purchaser surely knew how cool of an experience it would be for the salesman, and for the insignificant cost of a plane ticket he/she gave the guy a cool experience to talk about for the rest of his life. I like to think that if I had that kind of cha-ching I'd do fun stuff like that for people.

Not that the bug was built to make sense, but I don't understand why they would spend so much time on aero (it looks functional at least) and then put goofy flat fog lights above the windshield.

Blasphemy. The twin mill is not rice!

Good investigating and update. Diagnosing a problem is tough work. -

Pic 3 makes me think you're off a tooth, but that's only if all of the other belt marks were lined up at the same time. In pic 1 is there a white line on the belt that I can't see? Somewhere here on the forum there's info about how many belt teeth should be between each mark. That would take a while but would certainly tell you if your timing is correct or not. I've never heard about the ECU shutting off an injector for limp mode. That would make sense though if it's trying to save itself from bad timing. -

From my experience, after I do a ton of digging around in the engine bay I've learned to expect odd electrical issues afterwards. It's a royal pain diagnosing that crap, but for me it's usually been something as simple as a loose ground, unseated connector, or a loose wire.
