  1. Has anyone had issues with the Fujitsu Ten 7" headunit not recognizing a USB drive? I have a 4GB usb FAT32 drive I have formatted multiple times. The headunit unfortunately does not recognize the USB drive. I have also tried deleting the partition and re-creating it as well as only having a smaller partition (2GB) on the drive while leaving the rest unpartitioned and still no luck.

    Edit: nevermind, bad drive.

Heh … I have had issues with the HU recognizing the USB directory since I got the car in August 2014. Sometimes it's there … sometimes it's gone. Shuffle sort of sucks too.

  2. My only concern with DD Tail as Turn (and it's more of a pet peeve) is that when you have the turn signal on, there's no brake indication anymore on that light. At least that's the way it seems in a few videos I've seen.

You would be surprised how many other cars do it this way. Trust me, the other light and 3rd brake light and flashing light SHOULD be enough to get some attention from the person behind. Honestly, I always thought the amber blinkers were 'lost' with the brightness of the LED brake lights.

  3. Installed Diode Dynamics Tail as Turn with backup modules. Sweet little upgrade! Glad to get rid of those lame amber turn signals and the LED's really pop. Did LED's for turn as backup and backup lights while I was back there. Bright as all hell.

Like it so much I might do the wife's 2018 Outback Premium. Just replaced the license plate lights with LED's and backup lights on hers. Headlights and fogs next ...

  4. Finally! Got my SMS messages to work again. After spending weeks of having my phone ping and seeing the blinking green message light and nothing showing up on the HU, I removed the phone, then re-paired it. Although I originally had to do this after the first and second time they did update, and BT and the phone worked fine and my contacts transferred every time I started the car, I wasn't seeing the messages. Who knew?
  5. Do it yourself. On the techs defense the update should have a fail check. The don't know it failed. It just goes through it and that's it. This is why so many of us missed it as well. It is bad written software.

Like it or not we are just a work order number for every dealership.

Sadly ... there is. Just check the versions on the unit after the update. Probably not in the instructions, though.

(This is probably difficult for me to understand because I am not a qualified, certified Subaru service technician, but do write/code/configure systems and software for a Healthcare System and a Hospital and not updating a car ;) )

  6. Just checked ... DB version is 9011, others are at 9017.

Pisses me off that I need to tell the dealer that a TSB is applicable ... then how to correctly install the effin' thing!!!

Went back to the dealer today. They re-installed the software after I explained why I didn't think it was installed correctly. Dash Compass is now operational as are Turn-by-turn instructions. Had to reset all my station settings and re-pair my Bluetooth phone settings. Mirrorlink still doesn't work with my Galaxy S7. :(

  7. Actually, brake maintenance is part of the routine maintenance schedule.

Our 03 Outback was well maintained, but because it had such low mileage and went on longer maintenance service intervals, the slide surface on one of the front calipers rusted, preventing proper operation and prematurely wearing out the inner pad. Ended up totally wiping out the rotor and caliper. Ka-ching!

Checking the caliper and cleaning/lubricating the pins and slides are key, and highly recommended by Subaru.

Sorry ... not having much time on the boards anymore where I have a new job and now commute from Dracut to Cambridge instead of Nashua, NH and have been travelling for training. Yeah, I have never had to deal with the route 3 and 128 thing before and that's been a real adjustment.

The LGT was a stock dark gray 08-ish where there were reflectors on the rear bumper. Don't think it was a Spec-B. Not like he was going to get anywhere fast in the next two miles!

I drove my LGT for 9 years and yes, I did get on it sometimes, (... like my 3.6r ... and my Mustang GT ... and my old 71 Barracuda ... ) but at least I had the sense to respect the traffic and conditions.

FWIW, I still wave and give thumbs up to the LGT's and nod approval to the WRX crowd ... but not sure if I get any response where I am in now in a Black on Black 3.6R Limited luxo-cruiser (with my Trunk Monkey sitting on the rear deck waving bye-bye to anyone moving slower behind me).

  9. Sorry about the bad luck, dude. I thought I was the only one that this sh!t happened to.

There are instructions here on removing the center console. Rayms posted them in a .pdf a while back. You need to search a bit ... but it's there. I know that the two front pieces on the center bin pop right off, you can remove the rubber mat from the center bin and get to the screws. I had the front half the console out to the frame when I did my cup holder lights, so that might get you enough space to find your stuff. Good luck!
