Rear Brake Job - 6th Gen

Anyone with wheel bearing issues?
cerbomark replied to T4Fun's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
It can be an issue with lots of Subi s over the years. I had 1 or 2 on my 08 Outback at 60K plus, then on my other 4 Subi s, 14,15,17 I have had no issues yet. I have had friend have two go out on their Outback with less than 10K on the car. So it is an issue for some but it s warrantied and a pretty easy fix. Other vehicle have issues too as theses parts are made by manufactures. Salty roads can bring it on sooner as can hitting lots of pot holes. I wouldn t make my choice on a car based on this alone. -
1 800 subaru3. 5th subi for me. they had all my info.

Thanks, Got the invoice on nADA . They have a 2% holdback on the WRX I m looking at. That's $700 dealer keeps. I don t see any other incentives on that specific model. So it s about $2 K off MSRP. That s about the most you can get if you can work at that #. Any other info I ll take. Must be WRX specific as it s limited and Subaru will only do so much. 2.9%. Called and got a $500 coupon from SOA also. Thanks.

I know I saw a great resource that showed Subaru options, invoice and MSRP... can t find link? Not sure where online I saw it but it was a Subi forum.
-
you won t have an issue. the worst that can break along those lines is MAYBE an end link which is cheap and easy to change. and that won t happen for the first 100K.

19MM bar coming off my 2015 Legacy soon as the lease ends. I thought it was better with it on there.... will be for sale soon> Also put one on my 17 Outback. Both cars just too sloppy at highway speeds and winding country travel that I do with the stock bar. I am not shy about about driving a fast pace on the highway.

Don t you think over all these years the supplier has changed? That would be my guess. -

IMO these Subi s are used in salted area s a lot which seep into the bearing and causes premature failure... Be interested to know if it is worse in salted areas. Plus I believe a nasty pot hole environment can hurt too....\ In my snow belt area it s common among many different makes. -

cerbomark replied to hoppyjr's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
it shines the light in the dirction you need to be looking... don t have them on my subi but do on another vehicle and as stated they are great in the rural areas... wish my subi had them. You think there would be a fuse the motor that moves them, if that's how they work? this say s you have a switch to disable https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=ymyy-t-999&hsimp=yhs-frontier1&hspart=frontier&p=turning+off+steering+responsive+fog#id=1&vid=efb547f011b36bcd80abe467286d14ae&action=click -

cerbomark replied to T4Fun's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
Subi s have had this issue since at least 08 when I had my first subi... They have been correcting this for years. LOL. Dealer price is probably around 400-500 hundred dollars to change one. A little annoying but not a deal killer for me... I think my 08 was about $300 to replace from a local shop that I trusted. Warranty is even better but it won t be the last one that goes. -
Weird noise from front suspension
cerbomark replied to diesel4982's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
brake caliper bracket???? Probably something in the suspension, sway bar , shock etc... can you reproduce it by bouncing the car by hand when cold? Open the hood and do that and may be you can isolate it. I m sure it s nothing to worry about if everything is tight in the front end. Just annoying... Someone mentioned that their trans ground cable line was hitting their air box. Mine was way clear of touching. FYI/ Drivers side towards the rear of engine and goes from battery , under that side of the box and then I guess down to the trans... -
LS2 s with 30K just didn t look good enough for my snow belt area so I replaced with Mastercraft LSR all seasons. I have used them a few times before on my subi s and never had an issue. They are smooth , quiet, and long lasting. I didn t think the LS2 s were the greatest in the snow. FYI, just because they are not getting close to the wear bars doesn t mean they ll be acceptable in snow. There is a different thread depth measurement needed for snow. (Don t have my gauge here to give the numbers)

Amount of oil added between changes
cerbomark replied to waldguy's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
your oil use is fine..If you change oil at 6K you ll never have to add any. 1/2 down is not a problem. You may see times you are not down the 1/2 also. Drive 55-60 and you ll get closer to the 36mpgs for sure. -
Did my second 19MM bar swap on the wife s new Outback.... By now why wouldn t Subaru make this upgrade?? I mean its simple and everyone seems to notice the improvement.
