  1. Okay last update for the turbo overboost issue :l.... So when they had it off the car and were looking to see if swapping housings was possible (which i learned after wouldn't be from lots of really good info on Jack's soap opera thread haha), they gave me a call and the guys said there's a crack in the housing which is causing the wastegate to not open essentially. I don't know how something like that can happen especially if BNR truly took it apart and made sure everything was in spec. So my theories: either it was cracked from Jack or maybe started there which could have been giving him his boost issues which was solved atleast for a little while with upgraded springs/porting, or BNR never really took it apart to make sure everything was good..or he noticed but decided not to do anything about it. Sooo I guess that's how my week is going, expensive ass paper weight :[ They got my stock turbo back on the car, finished up doing the last of the wiring for my headlights (halos/demon eyes and putting in a fog light switch since they were right there) and my tuner said that he was just going to try getting me into a tuning slot as soon as possible. Hopefully that takes care of my small little soap opera of problems for a while and the downpipe doesn't end up giving me any problems, will update again when its tuning time
  2. Good write up! Wish i had this when i put in the dw65c a while back, though for never doing one previously, it was pretty simple to figure out. I did have a slight fitment issue with the 65c, dunno if anyone else had to slightly trim it to fit in the housing. Injectors tips for install I guess: Just make sure you get the plugnplay kits (got them with my ID1000cc's), they can pretty much only go in one way so can't really mess it up haha. Make sure to lube the O-rings, you'll have to take off the little cover on the bottom to get to the two orings underneath, then you can put that cover/cap back on and install it. The hardest part wasn't getting the injectors on/off, but getting the manifold, lines, etc. back on after...that took my friend and I the longest time. Subaru just puts everything in ridiculous spots, clamps upside, stuff along those lines that make the process take longer. I also opted not to put the injector covers back on cause they're not really necessary and was a pain to get to and off..could only imagine them going back on would have sucked. I do have some video I believe on our Youtube channel, dunno if that would help anyone get the basic idea or not if you wanted to do this yourselves. Also, as mentioned, the chargepipe will probably have to be removed just for easier access, and for that I also removed the right radiator fan to slide the pipe out (dunno if that was necessary or not, just made it easier). If anyone has questions on injector stuff I can try and help out, but it was honestly not that bad at all, manifold and getting the fuel rails/lines back on and tightening some bolts took the longest time. Good time to get some free power by doing tgv deletes, you're gunna be right there ;] Also good to keep in mind, probably look to get new mani o-rings, possibly tgv gaskets if they come off too.
  3. So heard from my tuner this morning, doesn't seem to appear that the nameless DP is the overboost culprit, but the actuator rod inside in the 20g, apparently its getting either stuck open or closed, and the rod is instead of moving up/down, moving side to side..pretty shot. No idea how an issue like that could happen after it was looked at through BNR prior to receiving it. So I told him I still have my stock turbo and can run it up to him tomorrow after classes, hopefully swap housing and see if that'll help/solve issues..if not I guess its just stock turbo life :L
  4. Oh yeah he's well over 300 now, just needs a proper touch up tune to get everything running smoothly. Exhaust note on his car is crazy, sounds exotic haha
  5. Still waiting to hear back from my tuner, just sent him an email this morning. I passed along the info you guys had about it hitting a heatshield or something blocking it so they could maybe diagnose it quicker. I have no real timeline of when I can get it back cause they were completely booked until may sometime so just hoping they can squeeze me in somewhere soon and let me know what the issue was and I'll post here when I find something out, really hope its something as simple as it hitting something preventing it from opening...
  6. Full nameless TBE, grimspeed ebcs, ported hybrid 20g, upgraded springs, along with the rest of the boltons
  7. I'd go primitive, that's what I'm saving up for. Glad you have your boost issues under control now! May be needing that header w/ewg sometime with my boost issues now haha
  8. It was originally shortened because I think it was hitting a bracket near the turbo/downpipe and possibly something else. When I was looking under the car when it was just jacked up at the shop, you can't really see the arm fully so its hard to see if its something externally that may be holding the arm up or internally. Though it could be something completely different..though I'm not really sure what else could be the issue. Had a compression test and new spark plugs put in before the tune as well (comp between 145-149, pretty solid numbers) Replied to your pm Jackal, but like I said I didn't end up testing it while it was on the car since the dude at BNR tested everything to make sure it all worked, plus got rid of that bracket above dp/turbo... and honestly we were on a bit of a time crunch so that just got pushed aside :l
  9. Wastegate was ported out 28mm as I recall :L GS ebcs, all hooked up correctly Yeah it was already previously ported and the arm was shortened as well so I figured there shouldn't be any overboost issues..And I was supposed to get a ets header set up but he ended up keeping it which was the smarter choice for him haha
  10. Hey sorry for the super late response. We are vidding stuff, though at somepoints we didn't record much at all because we just wanted stuff done. After everything's all said and done, if you have any questions I can try or make a vid answering/showing whatever to ya. So was supposed to be dyno tuned this past friday, went up there with a buddy and his 16wrx. His bearings from the factory are shot, 4k miles on the car and the sound is loud on start up after sitting for a bit. My car got strapped up, did a couple pulls and my tuner told me that I was overboosting..hit 27psi:eek: So after checking all the small stuff, it was at the point where it has to be taken apart and diagnosed. It's gotta be something not allowing the waste gate to open imo, but only time will tell. The full Nameless TBE sounds so aggressive and loud (I have the muffler deletes+4" tips) I love it, cruising around on the base map up to get the tune and around town got a bunch of thumbs up. I'm not sure if there are any clips of it on the dyno, but after everythings all said and done, I'll make an exhaust video/driving vid
  11. I guess it would be the heatshield above the cat portion of the DP..Looks like it'll only need a slight trim but well see today. Yeah I ordered and have a new turbo heat shield I went to mock it up yesterday and looks like 2 mounting holes will work but nothing else..maybe cause new turbo? Sooo guess I'll need to add primitive to the list haha My stock one was so rusted it just fell apart taking it off..and almost all the bolts snapped haha. Hopefully if I get my base map today and finish some things up with the car (wiring gauges, maybe fogs, screw in wideband and o2 sensor) I'll be able to get a start up vid/clip
  12. Yesterday I just went back under to make sure the new o2 sensor I had to get actually fit which it does and clears everything so that was good. However I'm also putting in a Wideband A/F using the 3rd bung anddddd it hits the top heatshield, not letting it screw in. Anyone else running a Wideband find this problem or solution? Was just gunna slightly trim it to fit unless I could take the shield off real quick, screw it in and reinstall the shield..
  13. Heatshield for Turbo or? I have a new one in haven't tried test fitting it yet Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

  15. I had the same issue since my car got lowered and ended up screwing some blocks towards the end of a 2x4 type board and driving over them to get clearance haha Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk
  16. There might be...;] can't wait to finally start her up haha. And yeah one for the midpipe where the huge donut gasket has to go and one that connects the end of the midpipe to the y pipe portion Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks man ✌ and I have a tuning date for the 15th so by then! Cars about 75% done, waiting for new gauges to come in, have to wire it up, get alternator back on, headlights and front bumper all back and should be good to go! Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

  19. Went to the post office to pick up the mail for work and there were no spots out front..so I circled around the back where some workers were and parked on the side of the building. As I was coming out, they were walking up to the trucks with packages and they were like, this car is so mean looking! Is it an sti?? I told them it was a legacy GT, we talked about the mods and stuff and we all went on with our mornings :] Gotta love meeting new people and compliments at the same time haha ..Though later on the coupler slipped off the tmic and the car went full limp mode...had to baby it after making 5 fixes along the way (didn't have proper tools on me) to my garage probably deal with it tomorrow >:[
  20. Parked next to Chris at the campus parking lot, we were breaking mad necks and got a thumbs up from one of the mustang guys on campus ;]
  21. This would be interesting..I'm sure i don't have the cash it would take to get a kit, but i might just have to start saving depending on how it looks. Chris (DC) and i talked about widebody kit a while ago after he went and talked with a local shop..the price was like buying a used car! .....Im still in for pics and ~price :]
  22. No better compliment than the guys working at ECS Performance all gathering and complimenting the car when I was getting tuned. Glad others like it just as much as I do :] Paul (tuner/owner) is trying to talk his wife into getting one now!
  23. Was just cruising back from a friend's house and this new Honda civic was following for the past mile and took my exit. As we were cruising to the light he rips up next to me and all 4 dudes in the car start giving thumbs up and taking pics. Was pretty awesome so I dropped a couple gears and we parted ways. Gotta love car enthusiasts ;]
  24. Yeah haha cools! Need some more pull clips ;]
